I have to add the Goodbrand and Ross Tea Room on the A939 at Corgarff south of The Lecht. A log cabin styled diner / gift shop serving the most delicious sundaes and with jar after jar of old fashioned sweeties! (Gratuitous pic of Riley Blue posing in the sunshine)
That picture could have been taken 40 years ago.Sorry I might be little biassed as we took over Achray House earlier this year, but as the hotel / restaurant is located comfortably close to brand new Heart 200 route (http://www.heart200.scot/) I feel that it's a real hidden gem especially as the previous owners didn't keep the restaurant open for non-residents.

I started work in a BMC garage in 1961 and loved the Riley 1.5 . Remember one year we got sent up a special one from the factory to put on our stand at Scottish Motor show in Kelvin Hall , not sure what year that was . It was two tone red / white and had extra detailing under the bonnet and inside for the show . Beautiful car .I remember well my visits to the Kelvin Hall I was 16 back then in 1961 and visited on many occasions and came home with carrier bags full off brochures, also had commercials at the back off the hall and outside displays. The KH was a great venue every year the carnival was there brings back great memories of my youth.
South West Scotland - Moore’s Fish and Chips in Castle Douglas. Award-winning for a very good reason. A short walk to Carlingwark Loch to eat them on a bench.
The Hive cafe in Garlieston just south of Newton Stewart followed by a short drive to the point at Isle of Whithorn.
Surprisingly quiet in the area considering it’s the height of summer.
