RyanBigJohnson said: FAIL! Some small rubber boot of some sort, boot release(?!?), emissions and brake efficiency. Boot release and rubber getting done tomorrow, but can't bed the brakes in & give it a run out to clear any crap out without an mot!!! How the hell does that work?! Might have to visit a more lenient MOT station... Can you not have the car taken out with a decelerometer?

Foot brake or hand brake?
I always struggle with emissions. You may need to follow a slight diversion on the way to the re-test and get the cats properly heated up.

Re engine status, I'm sure your guys are good, but you can't beat a specialist that's looked at 100's of S6 engines. These guys are probably not too far from you and have a good rep. http://www.selbytvr.co.uk/

Well, after 4 months of waiting my car passed it's mot on Saturday morning & I got it taxed with a whole 3 minutes to spare before the post office closed! There is still a way to go yet, but at least it's on the road & I now know why all you guys love em so much!! I know I'm a little bit late with this update, but as you can imagine I have been somewhat otherwise engaged either driving it or looking at it. It does make me a little bit nervy when I see pictures on here of other peoples though because mine is still a bit of a shed to be honest. List of things that need to be looked at: - Drivers window, when locking the car the passenger window goes all the way up, but the drivers goes up about 2 inches at a time meaning I have to keep locking/unlocking until it gets to the top. - Driver door release not the best - Speedo doesn't work most of the time, & when it does it's usualy wrong (140mph parked in a car park!) - Both doors, especially drivers p**s water in. When I washed it and rinsed it down there was a cascade of water leaked in near the front end bottom corner of the drivers window. Luckily the door cards are not on as they are getting re covered, but the door internal electrics got soaked and water poured into the bottom of the door and also some down the outside of the rubber sheet (which sits behind the door card) and into the footwell - Water gets into the seal attached to the targa top, wetting the inside corners of the roof - Slight squeal from the fan belt on start-up There are also a fair few cosmetic issues, carpets, a few leather bits, front indicator assembly discoloured, seat internal plastic broken etc. Oh & the paint! £5k for the car, £2.5k in repairs up to now so not too bad, right???! & no I wasn't getting it cleaned for me in the picture below, I just parked there where nobody would hit it!

Well done!! We need as many saved as possible, they are to rare to let go. Seems to be a very cheap car so far. Hope it works out to be a real bargain, you deserve it for taking the chance.

Amazing value for money, well done You'll have fun with the electrics! Simple solution to leaks, don't go out in the wet. The weekend looks dry ;-) Begs the question- "Is this the cheapest Tuscan on ph?"

With a bit of lady luck on your side you may have found a diamond in the dirt - the car boot sale sleeper etc. It's looking good so far, but, even if it does give you a big bill, you have room within the price to get it done and have an engine upgraded car.
Think of it this way. There are many desirable classics offered at £5k (bargin) price but will then need £15K spent on them to keep them road-going. Why should a more modern Tuscan be different. All TVRs are classics now.

Still think the paint looks very nice on those pics, whatever you do talk to a detailer first, Whatever it is that's not on the pics I'm sure they can deal with it...

Re the door window and opening, it probably needs a new encoder on the drivers side window motor. Water kills them.
Speedo sounds like a new sender may be required. It's on the passenger side of the diff. You could check the wiring and clean/gap it but the symptoms sound the same as mine when it started to fail.

Ill take some pictures later, if it shows up ill post them & you'll see what i mean. The bonnet & roof are the worst bits, although there isn't 1 panel without scratches or chips. Also when it was stood some old dear reversed into it & cracked the front lift up fan cover bit. I Had it cleaned by Pro Valet from Hull who details super cars all day long & he agreed, & also said steer clear of flip paint next time :-/

Amazingly, its been less of a t**t up to now than the v6 Alfa 156 I own, which has done 15k in the 7 & half years I've owned it!! And I repeat, up to now, that is...

I would say its worth making sure no more water can get in but also, given its history I would be very tempted to spend some time trying to dry the whole car out. It's amazing how water creeps in to places and causes issues.
Not sure how you'd do it but I've parked a Tiv in the garage with a fan heater in it and under it for a week or so before now.

Unbelievably, I put the roof on last night, locked it & low & behold the fecking window started working as it should?! And the door release worked properly. I've used the expression 'mind of its own' before, but this car really does feel that way! I like it though, I always say the worst cars are the best ones. I love Alfa's, TVR's & most of all, old Mini's. All of which fall to break on a regular basis but are amazing drive! Gives em character as well I think...

Besides changing all the seals etc, how do you stop water cascading through and into the door?? & if this can never be fully achieved, how do you protect the internal electrics?!
I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit scared of all this, as I am merely a run of the mill electrician on sub £12.50 an hr, trying to do the best I can with it on a shoe string. I'm currently working 12hrs a day & trying to get some weekend work in just to keep up with it at the moment. So all the help & advice you guys are giving me really is invaluable, when I say thank you, I really do mean it!! Thanks everyone.
