Having owned a 3000M and upgraded to a Chimaera I have always loved the M more for some reason. Having seen photos of the 5000M and looked at the rear shoots you can see it is an M Series Chassis from the rear and the engine shot also proves its an M Chassis.

If you never owned an M and never worked on one, you will never know how to tell, but its an M alright and boy its good to see the Best TVR ever is the Last TVR ever to leave the Factory.
Colin,
Do you know where your old M is. I would be interested in purchase of such a beast.

Well personally I think the car is absolutely beautiful.

Hats off To Pete. As an engineering exercise to build a beautiful modern interpretation of an Old M, Cool!

It is racing in the heritage series precisely because of what it is. nice to see a series not ran by aholes that just want to see nice cars racing. this sounds like my type of series.

If he read this thread he would be pissing his sides at the opinions on here!

What makes me laugh the hardest is some peoples distaste of where the car should be running and whether it is legal or not!! Who cares it is fab and a lot nicer than the crock of st unveiled in Kirkham earlier this year.

Jelly old bean, hey up jellybean getmecoat I've got news for you. There aint no such thing as a competitive legal / original Griffith. they're all bent. Degrees of bentness?? you could debate for Hours.

I want that car. It is everything a proper TVR should be, including contraversial.

Just to clarify here all I said was that the car looks wider than what I remember an 'M' being. I'm not suggesting it's anything but completely as described. I've never heard of the car prior to seeing the pics so not as if I am qualified to comment. It just looks odd...

Insert anti-litigation legal jargon here

John Wadman at TVRNA is still building 5000M's if anyone is interested. Mine was the last he built in 2003, converting the Pumpkin, Dave Graham's 3000M, after the engine blew. I bought it a year later. Mine is a 78 model but the earlier M chassis are easier to fit the engine in. It is back in his shop at present getting a new chassis and front after I left the track at Mosport at high speed. He started converting 2500 M's because the Triumph engine was not really powerful enough in North American tuning and it weighs more than the Small Block Ford. In his conversions the engine sits well back in the frame. If a V8 conversion needs a remote oil filter then the engine is too far forward! With a T5 gearbox and Salisbury rear end my weight distribution is 51% on the front and the car weighs about 2150 lbs with me in it. (Alloy heads, air conditioning and rear roll cage)
I did ask Martin Lilley at one of the Woodwork meetings if the 5000M was a real TVR sanctioned model and he admitted he new about it and sort of accepted it....... possibly because (as I heard it) a prepaid order for TVR's from TVRNA kept the company out of bankrupcy.
My guess is that he would convert your M to a 5000 for about $15 - 20,000 but please wait until mine is repaired before you load him with work!

I'll check on the rules tomorrow - but looks to me this is totally bent.

Most on here will not give a SH*T - but some of the racers with older car might think it is NOT RIGHT.

If I was at the meeting in a period car and this HUGELY wide thing was lapping faster I'd be bloody putting in an appeal.

I have owned a 3000M and currently own a Chim (which is the same width as a Tuscan 90's racer) - the later car is MUCH WIDER.

The Heritage is for period (but can have alot of engine tuning) 60's and 70's cars, not a siloeutte series (which is waht this car is). There are LOADS of 3000M's, 2500M's and 1600Ms with 289 or 032 fords in but on the std length and width chassis.

BENT - but then Wheeler did always like an advantage - 4.7 or bigger Race engines and still no better than mid grid in the Tuscans.

Who cares if this is an updated, widened, stretched car, as long as its GOOD NEWS instead of the usual BAD NEWS, good luck to them, hope to see more on the road then?, and what about a RACE SERIES to follow.....now we're talking.....then some road spin offs,......
