1985 Ford Escort 1.4 LX.

Not unlike this example, but without the dodgy wheels. Definitely had the rusting arches you could push through though.

In an old 50`s side valve Hillman Husky! how much of a git is that? It was 1964 and the next year I passed again on a Lambretta when I became a mod. (A real cool dude).

Maybe so, but i could insure a Jensen interceptor and other nice cars when i was 18, so i was not forced to endure a 1.0 nova or some such slowcoach with the power of a sinclair C5.

I also lived to tell the tale (more by luck admitedly).

1970 Vauxhall Viva HB first time.

Back then modified cars meant black-and-white chequered tape on the side, no hubcaps. and maybe a Peco exhaust.

Escort mk II 1300 Sport. No power but you could still get it sideways at every roundabout (not on my test though!). My sister took her test in a Series 1 XJ6 - class.

Metro 1.3L, one of BSM's finest*, in 1990 - but it was the third BSM Metro I drove hehe .

(The first Metro, a 1.3L, was taken out of service with the 'oil pressure light' lit one morning which delayed that lunchtime's lesson, and its temporary replacement - a "management car" Metro GS - expired with an electrical fire a mile after I'd got out of it that same evening.)

*I say 'finest' - it worked reliably, unlike the other two redface ...
