For anyone that's interested, this is my 1969 Dodge Dart GTS, it's 440 ci and has run a best 1/4 mile of 10.24 secs. I've owned it 23 yrs.
Respect - firstly for owning it 23 years (and probably before Mopar stuff started becoming sooooooooooo desirable) and secondly for a 10.24 quarter !

hat is John Shipmans. Have been to SPA 6 for the last 3 years helping a mate in the race, spoken with Mark a good few times on these (he did alot of the research on the changes).

From the front the mods are a bit comedy (IMO).

Back

Mine is more along these lines:-

This car was built / finshed end of 2005 and only deviated from then current fia in the spec of engine (supertuned 302 based lump), modern front brakes and sticky tyres.

Mine is the same but with the 200 rear - as that is the way it left the factory.

Many of the race only (the 2 above) have been built 100% from new parts bar the engines heads and blocks (but have a sort of traceable history from the chassis they profess to be from). The 65 car was a 200 originally when it left the factory as was the 35!

And how it was back in the early 70's smilesmile

Excellent thanks Jellison those pics illustrate perfectly what I was getting at, they do like ridiculously over-flared from head on IMO. The final race car picture of the blue car looks great, IMO what they should look like. Would absolutely love to have a go in one like that, I can imagine with a huge wedge of V8 muscle and a very short wheelbase it will be interesting, especially in the wet! However from your profile you don't seem against taming powerful beasts so look forward to some updates when it's done wink

A very nice silver P6 on ebay got me thinking about modified classics, I'm not into power windows in Mk2 Jags, but I do like classics to run more modern motors with EFI, some cars I'd like to build....

I took the 3.0 from a Porsche 911 of 1978 'SC' with the dodgy vacuum injection, fitted a 3.6 with all the EFI from a 95 car, went like stink, ran perfectly and MPG went from 22 to 36 while HP went from 180 to 270.

A Rover P4 or P5 or P6 running a rover V8 from a TVR.
That Bristol 401 with the Chrysler V8.
My E28 BMW that I bumped into someone that is still languishing in the pig shed with a 540i motor.
An Alpine with a Ford V8.

I hope that E28 BMW languishing in the pig shed has 540 cu in engine (rather than a 4 ltr BMW engine) LOL

Problem with that (in order) will be clutch, then gearbox, propshaft, diff and finally drive shafts! all 'do-able', but at a cost!
Here here, I think Ross is pushing the envelope of the standard drive train as it is!

Can't get mine to stand up like that at the front, stock tires just spin instead!

James - its down to using 'grippy' rear rubber (40 section Toyo's) and then getting good 'rotation' - i.e weight transfer - so, in order - feather throttle off the line - once rolling at,with the clutch fully engaged at, say 15 mph floor the throttle - this helps front end to 'loosen up', raise its self and weight transfer to rear of car which then in turn squats down (helping tyres to grip). Changing in to second gear has much the same effect - in to third (and we are now into three figure speed here) and things start to loosen off a bit and the rear end can start to step out at bit.

Cheers Ross. Will need to try it next time I am back and can play with the car. On another note, did you fit a centreforce clutch? My friend is currently storing the car and reckons he needs to hit the gym to move the clutch pedal. Although it could be that his usual car is an MX5 and he is just a wimp.

I have CenterForce Dual Friction clutch (and matching flywheel) - each side of friction disc has a different lining material which seems to give a far more progressive 'take-up' - it has slightly less pedal pressure than stock clutch - fine when driving in central London, but handles 500+ hp comfortably.

The freshly built engine that will be going in mine shortly. The photo was taken when it was still not 100% finished, a few days before it was dynoed.

One of my very favourite cars of all time! I used to see this driving around New Romney around 1987 and totally fell in love with it. Anyone know if it's still around?
I think my old mk1 has a different reg number now and the rear arches and wheels have been changed.I hav,nt seen it for some years but a mate told me about the change,s to it.I sold it to a friend of Kevin Jenkins (drag racer) who lived near sutton thats the last I see of the car.It only had a 3 gallon fuel tank that ment you had to stop at nearly every garage to get to the pod from london so I transported it sometimes because of the hassle.

My current Daily driver... not quite stock

1990 325i Touring

Speedtouch Chip
ITG Filter
6KG flywheel
Z3 shifter kit
E46 Rack conversion
RPM / Gaz Coilovers.
16in TSW Wheels (will be changing once I get work again)

Future plans are Mazda / WMS 4 pot front brakes, braided lines and BTB Exhaust

Maybe as far as a supercharger conversion, but depends on funds...

Plus I've got another project currently mothballed and if funds allow will probably be LS V8 dropped in..

Dirty Boy your Sebring is sexual and i see you have Chromy's old Zetec B. I had my eye on that but sadly did not have funds at the time.

I now have this V8 Sebring. Is very much a work in process but i do hope it will look as mean as yours one day.
