I am trying to make a route on a tomtom xxl western europe.
I want to go to Reims in france, then onto thalwil in Switzerland.
That part is initially okay as itineray planning is present on this older unit (whoile reason i bought it). However i want to go via the b500 in Germany as i have been told by many that this route will be much nicer. Tomtom insists on going through france and not Germany, probably fair enough but i want to go via somewhere else.
I can plan the route on aa route planner with ease, but not on the tomtom, i don't have any option to put in a via which road iykwim.
So apart from putting in about 10 villages which look like they are near to the b500 on the aa map what can i do?
Thanks

Use Tyre on your PC - free software which lets you create a route using Google maps and transfer it as an itn file to your Tomtom. Put in more waypoints than you think you need, which you can easily do by dragging the route on the PC map; the more waypoints, the more likely TT is to take you the way you want to go.

TYRE is by far the best option, but if your Tomtom has itinerary-planning you can also add specific waypoints directly inside the device. In itinerary-planning mode, select "Add", then "Point on map" and you can select the specific road you need.

Wow, had a play tonight, what an awesome piece of software, it's a shame that a free piece of software is better than what's on tomtom......but there we go. Looks like route is now fully planned with a tiny detour to st bernardino on the way down it italia Many thanks
