One way to tell from the outside is that the 3ltr has two single exhausts as opposed to a twin exhaust on one side, and the wheels are different.

I'm a little bit excited. My plan had been to buy a C6 as my next car in around 12 months but unfortunately my Avantime engine went pop a little while ago and as its terminal my plans have moved forward a year.
As luck would have it my perfect spec C6 has turned up on eBay and I'm collecting it on Saturday! Black, cream leather and full lounge pack! Plus the suspension work has all been done and there is a full history with plenty of receipts etc.
Weirdly I'm now looking forward to the next trip to th inlaws in Aberdeen. Over 1,000 miles round trip of wafting comfort!
If I can now work out a plan to get another VX as a weekend toy I think I'll have my perfect garage!

Well i've had it 2 days now and have to say I love the thing! It's a car of firsts for me as I've never owned an automatic and never owned a diesel, both of which were conscious choices. On the right car though both of these make so much sense and on the C6 it makes it such a smooth drive with so much torque and an utterly effortless drive.
Don't get me wrong, no one would ever class it as a 'drivers' car but my god it wafts as good as the best of them.
I think I've now realised that the cars I like the most are completely focused in one area. My VX was my favorite sports car by a country mile as it was so focused and raw. My 350Z was a dissapointment as it was just too damn comfy and trying to be too many things. Likewise the C6 is just a phenomenal car to eat up hundreds of miles whereas the Avantime, with hindsight, was a waftmobile trying to be, well I'm not sure, but something else (I may review this opinion of the Avantime as I'm still quite pee'd off with how much money it's heamoraghed from my wallet and how the engine then went and just catastrophically failed on me despite doing as much preventative maintenance as was possible).

I've been without the car for over a week now. Turns out the failed part was the ballast unit which is very expensive. A new headlight unit is over a grand, but luckily it was covered by my warranty (it's a sealed unit). There was one on eBay, brand new (saved waiting for them to ship one from France) which arrived at the garage this morning. They should be fitting it tomorrow.
Can't wait to get her back!

Now reading stuff like this does put me off buying an avantime. I don't even need a car, it would sit in the street for most of the week and only be used for family duties for which we already have a 2 year old Smax for. But I do like them, not just the thought of a terminally empty wallet.Sorry to de rail the thread, but I do like the C6 as well!

Dont be put of the Avantime by me. With hindsight it served me well for nearly 4 years and was a fantastic car to own. If I had my time again though I'd have bought a 3 litre. They seem to be a better long term proposition plus the engine is far better suited to it. Crap MPG but so was the 2 litre so makes very little differenceSorry to de rail the thread, but I do like the C6 as well!

Turned out pretty well!
No one cares Saw a black C6 on the way into work today.
Immediately thought of this thread and booted up eBay motors and autotrader. st I want one more than ever.
it's not a bland, blend into the background rep-mobile and never will be. Still a bit gutted I couldn't find a nice one when I was looking and had to go for a 159 instead
