Bentley Warranty Options £4800 (!)
Discussion
Morning All,
Newbie here and was hoping you could assist.
I am due to collect a 15 plate Flying Spur w12 this week.
1 owner
9k Miles
Been Bentley serviced every year
Plus 12 months warranty.
I have tried to do all due-diligence before purchasing, yet know the knowledge here will outweigh anything I can research.
Having looked at previous MOT’s it continues to have the same advisory, is this something to be wary of and a standard issue fault.
Noted as : Nearside Front Upper Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement front suspension arm inner bush
Will this be a costly issue, will it not come into play.
Apologies for lack of knowledge, and thanks for responses in advance.
Jonny

My understanding is that the warranty on the Conti is cheaper due to the older tech in it.
When I was looking at a Bentaga I was told that if you prang it in a car park dent and one of the cameras goes wonky, it then requires a full day setting it back up so the systems work together - that's going to cost for example.
As soon as the newer Contis are old enough to be out of warranty you can bet their prices will increase too!
I hit a bollard at less than 2mph pulling into a parking space. When I was looking at a Bentaga I was told that if you prang it in a car park dent and one of the cameras goes wonky, it then requires a full day setting it back up so the systems work together - that's going to cost for example.

Cost me £1700 to have the radars recalibrated.
Total cost £4k for the smallest dent you'll ever seen in your life.
These cars are painfully expensive irrespective of how much money you've got.

The GTC is a risk, the roof mechanism looks frightening, but my old V12 was rock solid in that department so I keep my fingers crossed.
My wife drives this one, apart from the batteries it’s been very reliable, possibly a more mechanically mature model after so many years?
I had to change the key fob battery recently, I thought that was part of the service schedule, bloody tricky too.
The Bentayga is just over 12 months old and has had 3 trips back to the dealer already so not sure I’d run that without one.
£350 for 150,000 mile or 5 year warranty on my daily, and yet it was nearly 50% of the cost of the Bentley, so yeah they are ripping the arse out of you on warranty pricing at Bentley.
Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
You can use aftermarket batteries for the key fob so you dont need to get ripped of with the Bentley ones.My wife drives this one, apart from the batteries it’s been very reliable, possibly a more mechanically mature model after so many years?

I got a free fob battery with my service. Left in the car with some oil and screen wash.My 2008 GT Speed is still factory warranted. I just keep renewing it. It's a fixed cost like insurance and I get to keep it in the network for the cost of servicing and consumables. Had a rubber turbo pipe split a few years back causing a bit of overboost. £5.00 part but three days to find the fault - all covered. That would be a year's warranty gone and then some. They also do little bits and pieces under warranty as and when. Nothing serious though. I'm sure they make money out of me but eyes open and all that.

I appreciate my car isn't in the same league however brand new it's was £135k. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo warranty is £1800 for 2 years from Porsche.
That's a really good deal compared to Bentley.Saweep said:

That's a really good deal compared to Bentley.I think I’ll be looking at Audi next as I’m feeling ripped off / milked.

It’s a Q8 underneath (engine apart), I needed to get the tracking checked / done Bentley wanted £890 Audi £150 same machine, same suspension.
The 48v suspension system is hugely complex and unique to the B but it’s also on a Q8 (granted I don’t know the cost of a Q8 extended warranty).
I accept the Bentayga is complex but that shouldn’t be passed on to owners, they should man up and have more consistency.
The warranty is more than any other Bentley model.
Just a theory, but maybe Bentaygas attract a certain kind of buyer, not neccessarily the wide boy made good from Old Britain but from other parts of the world, and these people have that kind of money and Bentley rightfully has no problem taking it from them. The 48v suspension system is hugely complex and unique to the B but it’s also on a Q8 (granted I don’t know the cost of a Q8 extended warranty).

I also believe that a Bentley Bentayga is nothing more than a Q7 dressed as a Q8 with some winged Bs attached, but just think about what people would say if Bentayga maintenance would be the same - or even less - than a Q7/8.

18 months ownership has cost me nearly 100k.
It's a nice car, but...
I got an after-market warranty with my Conti and did consider buying a Bentley one for peace of mind.
What I have ACTUALLY decided to do is to keep the after-market one which will contribute £10k in the event of a problem. I am, in effect, taking a punt that if something does go pop my contribution won't exceed the cost of a 1-year warranty policy.
Given that I bought the car at 11k miles I am hopeful that I will come out the right side of that bet.

I’ve done 230 miles since my service with you think I can swing the inspection?
