Yuxi said: My first time yesterday, I was concerned about long queues but shouldn't have been. I traveled from the M25/M23, skirted Petworth by following the HGV route signs around it after advice from a friend and queued about 5 minutes to get into car park M, this was about 8.15 The hill down the car park was very slippery but had dried by the time we left at about 5, probably took 15 minutes to get past the temp traffic lights they put in at the first road junction after leaving the sight. Didn't bother with the HGV route around Petworth on the way out, the car behind me did and ended up in front of the car in front a few miles after Petworth.
A great day! Exactly the same here - got into car park M about 8am, virtually no queuing and had a great day. Shame about the gumpert at the end, took almost an hour for them to extract the passenger, hope all was OK.

Yes, I've heard of understeer, but this bloke doesn't even try to make it round the bend. Look at the video that Hypno just posted and you can see it clearly. He goes to the inside of the track and just goes straight on without steering. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7AIG1yvPx4&fea...He should've started the bend from the outside of the track and steered left when he got to the bend, it really isn't difficult. It doesn't suprise me that it was a Stealer driving. Does anyone want to buy a low mileage "Directors Car?"

blueheron said: My first time on Friday. Took 45 mins to get there from Eastleigh We left at 6.45am and came off the A27 at Emsworth, A259, left at Nutbourne up Broad Lane past Nutbourne station, right at the very end of the road. Then followed the B2178 a while, eventually passing through East Lavant (ignored the blue signs claiming no access to the FoS - it lies!). Took a right at the end of the road, then drove down until we were waved into a car park entrance. Easy! The festival itself was great. We took a picnic so no overpriced burger vans for us. Shame about the rain in the morning, didn't spoil things too much though. Leaving the car park was interesting.. queuing 2 abreast?! I think I let in about 3 cars at various joining points along the queue, yet when I needed to change lanes to the right hand, due to going right at the roundabout, no b d would let me over for ages! Had to force my way across in the end. Whatever happened to being nice?! Agreed that a lot of the parking attendants weren't doing much at all. Lack of signs...Exiting was a shambles. The idiot traffic marshalls sent us down via Roman Road rather than Claypit Lane which meant a journey that normally takes 5 minutes getting into the festival took 45. I was spitting feathers when I arrived at such a waste of time. At least the escape was easier than every other year I have been

Went for the first time today (Sunday), wasn't that impressed to be honest, I might of missed stuff, I thought I would see quite a few old cars on display? Saw all the rally cars which were great, but just quite a lot of new cars which to be honest arn't my cup of tea.
Did I mange to miss a load of stuff by going on Sunday instead?
I though I would be able to see all the cars that ran?
Was really good to see all the petrol heads in the car park!

Gumpert Apollo Update on passenger.
Nancy is fine, just very battered and bruised not to mention shocked. 6+ hours in hospital getting checked out. The impct speed was about 80mph, so a good testament to the desginers and manufacturer on the strength of the car.
Sorry, I don't know the status of the driver.

Was really good to see all the petrol heads in the car park! Were you at the right FOS? You care able to see all the cars that run up the hill in the various paddocks. I spent a good 10 minutes yesterday looking at Nick Masons 250 GTO. No barriers or anything between me and the car

Yeah definitely try harder! Was good to see all the F1 cars, although hearing some peoples passing comments on cars was very funny. Best was a guy in the Porsche stand saying ecstatically "the engines in the back"

Oh well theres always next year. Whilst taking this photo, I had to move to avoid being run over by Rene Arnoux, then a few minutes later, while Arnoux was surrounded by autograph hunters, Alain Prost drove into the paddock and parked next to him. How much closer do you need to get? A couple of years ago I had a chat with Jackie Oliver before his run up the hill in his '66 GT40 http://jalopnik.com/185857/dan-gurney-and-jackie-o... or http://www.carstyling.ru/resources/classic/1966_Fo... a proper gentleman, he waved away security so that I could get some photos, but the autograph dealer with a holdall full of scalextric cars wasn't so lucky! The year before he won the F1 world championship we bumped into Jensen Button strolling down to the house in a dinner suit, casual as you like. There are celebs and motorsport legends everywhere - some you'll recognise, many will wander relatively anonymously amongst the punters. That's the joy of Goodwood, the sport and the engineering are as important, if not more so, than the cult of celebrity. That, and watching a Transit van with an XJ220 engine blast up the hill with Justin Law at the wheel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IQIXfTfy10&fea... IMHO there is probably too much to do and see in just one day. If you wanted old cars, Cathedral paddock was the place to be, from 1903 onwards, racing cars from every era, with one row featuring Jaguars from XK120, through XK140, C, D, and E types up to the XJS and the LeMans cars of the 80's/90's. That's before you get to the Italian exotica as mentioned by CarlT... All I can say is don't give up on it - there really isn't anywhere else where you can immerse yourself quite so deeply in the sights, sounds, and smells of high octane historic motorsport as Goodwood. From the pioneering racers to the current F1 teams, there really is something for everyone when you factor in the bikes and the rally stage, and all without intrusive 'security' searches and draconian rules about bringing your own food in. Long may it continue. Oh, and if it's old cars that you really want, try this http://www.goodwood.co.uk/revival/welcome.aspx hope it helps!
