I might just go balls out and get a Lambo JH AAHHHHH! It IS prettier than an M5, it is louder than an M5..... if you're going to do 4000 miles a yera get the Aston..... If you're going to do more than that. DON'T DO IT! Forget BHP, the Aston is MUCH MUCH slower than just 57bhp.... it is not even comparable and as for running costs..... 7 months ownership and 24000 miles cost me more than £8k in just servicing! Then add tyres and brakes and all the other things that DO go wrong and are EXPECTED to go wrong.... don;t kid yourself, it is NOT £50k more it is a LOT more than that in real life!

Three glorious years in in an E60 M5 and now pondering a change.....you know, something different for a wee while until F10s become more sensible.
I've looked at various cars, but the E92 M3 is the only one that tickles my fancy....like a smaller, more nimble M5, albeit without that stunning V10.
I think I'd miss the beast and regret the move.
These V10 M5s are utterly addictive.
We'll see! Hey bud Good to see your you're still here! Been there and through 3 different cars after I sold my V10 M5.... now back in a 2010 M5.... save ya money, nothing compares

I've been following your car dalliances with interest. It's great that you've got another beast.....and what a stunning looking one it is too. Looking forward to hearing how things develop with the modding! Jazzer

OP - Not sure what your replacement budget is, but how about an XJ Supersport. I've got an E39 M5 at the moment, but definately have the XJ in my sights as they come down in price..may be a 'marmire' car though, but I'm on the love it side....

I tried one, it's a nice drive but..... the user interface/computer is just shocking crap! It's also still very slippers and flatcap

The presenter on that video looks like he could be Quentin Wilson's Swedish cousin.

Nothing will be like the E60/1 again. It's worth keeping hold of just for the engine! Had mine nearly 3 years now and love it. Went to the Ring in it last month, an amazing car. With light exhaust mods, sounds mad

I've really got this V10 bug too.
After three great years, I thought it might be a good idea to have a change of scene.....you know, Mercedes AMG, Audi RS5, GTR perhaps??
All magnificent, especially the GTR.
The thing is though, they really do feel inferior to an E60, whether in terms of comfort (C63 AMG is hard-riding, really poor) or in handling (except the GTR perhaps!!) or in engine: NOTHING beats that V10 at full chat!
The RS5 is shockingly poor, really crap to drive.....what a disappointment after the great B7 RS4.
So I will remain one of the M5 boys.
Happy Camper!!

ecain63 said: Tried a good few C63s and can only write the box off as boring. If only the 6.2 AMG lump was mated to our SMG III, then that would be something worth writing home about. The E63 is still too old manish for me and the RS6 too wollowy, despite the option of near 800bhp with a map, filters and exhaust. I cannot get on with Porsche interiors (really dated still) and nothing else seems to fit the bill. I do however quite fancy a masserate grantourismo, but the good ones are still above budget.
Eddie Haha, E63 "old manish", from someone who drives an estate car! I had 8 years in M5's, 2x E39 and then 3 years in an E60. Eventually had to get out for a while and decided for something different to help ease the pain. Ended up with a TT V6 for couple of years which was decidedly average. Eventually you just have to go back, the V10 is so addictive, and you keep reading the M forum and are reminded of what you are missing. The E63 which I decided on definitely feels more special than the E60 I think and certainly attracts a bit more attention, especially on the continent, and it feels a bit quicker and sharper than I remember the E60 being. (my memory isn't quite so reliable these days mind) If you're thinking Gran Turissmo then I think the E63 is unbeatable. In summary Eddie, stick with an M, you will regret it otherwise! Cheers

Cheers I think Eddie refers to the MB E63, whereas your E63 reference is to the M6? Either way, these V10 monsters encapsulate (as does the current M3) what the M brand was about: a bespoke N/A high-revving engine, manual (stretching it to automated manual with the SMG) transmission, RWD with LSD. The way the M brand is going, they are the last of the classic breed. Enjoy!
