Hi all.
I contacted Chevrolet UK the other day to see if any of the dealers had actually had a new Camaro in, and they said it'd be June / July before any cars would be delivered.
So, has anyone on here gone ahead and ordered one - and if so, what was the experience like? Any discounts (PM me if you prefer). Is anyone else thinking of ordering?
I've followed the previous thread a while back about the differences with the mirrors/lights compared to the US spec ones, but after that there doesn't appear to have been any updates.

There's half a dozen approved dealers already that have at least a showroom car. Some of them have got their demos as well.

Thanks for the heads up, Roo. I'll check out my local dealer, then. Bit of a worry when the Camaro 'expert' at Chevy UK doesn't even know that some dealers already have cars in their showrooms!
So, has anyone bought one, then?

Be it a six or an eight, get a manual transmission. The auto Sucks up all the fun.

I swear the nicest ones are the completely striped models. No options, steel wheels, bare bones.

A no option Camaro has a ton of features. $23k

I was an ad the other day (can't find the magazine right now) but there are 4-5 vauxhall dealers across the country which will have them, I know one was definatly Cambridge, an another was London but can't recall the other 3

Our local Saab/Chevy dealer claims to already have 4 Camaro 'verts in stock at £40k. Well according to their website anyway. Sun's out so might take a wander down and take a look.

Cheers for all the replies.
According to the Chevy UK website, my local sales dealer is Wimbledon, but the local servicing dealer is the Essex one. I'm very surprised they've left out the 'Thames Valley' area, though.

Arn't the UK supplied cars only 'loaded' versions?

Looking at the UK site they would appear to have all the options ticked apart from some of the colours and adding stripes. No mention of Sat Nav though.

Have to say that their mpg figures are not far below what my 1998 E36 2.5L gets. Not bad for a 6.2L V8 and it gets slightly better consumption and lower CO2 if you go for the auto.

So they're still LHD, look worse and you pay £900-ish VEL in the first year as opposed to £215-ish for an import...for essentially the same car?

If this is anything like a repeat of the Vauxhall 1998-2000 Z28/Corvette debacle, I wouldn't hold your breath on the service side of it either. All Vauxhall dealers did was charge you for the cost of their computers - "flash car, flash prices". I'd rather use an independent specialist importer any day of the week.

Interested in the they look worse comment as it does look different on the UK site but what has changed.

Personally I think you are correct and if I was in the market for one of these, I'd go secondhand import. Might try the dealer for a test ride though smile

Sat Nav will be available on the 2013 models. Up to now, the satnav is the "OnStar" one...

I believe some LED rear lights of a different conjoined design to accommodate orange indicators (and possibly foglight if they are not separate) as opposed to the "classic" shape Camaro rear lights, elephant ear squarish folding door mirrors and different bumper(s) to accommodate Euro size plates as a starter (side repeaters in there somwhere too).

There will be lots of differences under the skin too - my 98 Euro Z28 had a plethora of Euro stuff like E-marked glass and many detail differences. This can cause problems in future if they pull out (again) and stop servicing the Euro parts (though I'm sure the US parts would fit).

that'll be them! Thanks... may pop over to have a looksee at a UK version in the flesh so to speak - however as has been already stated on here for quite a few reasons even if I were to be in the market I'd be looking at import

Don't bother - I phoned yesterday and they won't have one until August (so I was told)

None in Wimbledon or Essex.
So, bringing my original question around full circle, it seems like Chevy UK were right in that the dealers don't have any cars to see or sell and it'll be a while yet before they do......!
