No shock at seeing Yas Island there. The UAE has to be on every list of the biggest, tallest, widest etc world lists for something and everything.

I've been lucky enough to have been to 8 out of the 10, missing just Yas & Ibiza. They have missed out the IYCA in Antibes, very pricey. The only one that is worthwhile is St. Tropez, bars and restaurants right off the boat to watch the girls walk by. Very nice view indeed.
An Aussie mate was skippering a 170' CRN motoryacht. His Owner bought berth No.1 at Capri Marina. On going stern-to for the first time in the new berth he felt a bloody great whollop from below. He'd hit something very solid, so on tying up he jumped over the side with the scuba gear to see a sodding great rock right in the middle on the slip. He went to the Marina office and explained this to them only to be told that everyone knew it was there and he shouldn't have bought the berth for that kind of boat. Have a guess who sold them the berth? Yep, the marina office.
New props and quick sale followed.

Memories of St Tropez back in it's heyday. Used to be populated mainly by pontoon on pontoon of Cafe Racers and Rivas with just the quayside against the restaurants reserved for the big stuff. The big stuff obviously getting quite annoyed by the continual racket created by big block v8s. I did my bit for the noise when visiting of course.  All different now of course, us noisy playboys aren't welcome inside the inner harbour and even Tahiti beach seems to be full of clothed people. Only option now to make an entrance is to pull up alongside a restaurant in Grimaud with the straight thru exhausts.

At least we put Silent Choice exhausts on the Cigarette. We still got nicked for speeding as we ran at 8 knots just at tickover.

I suppose you need different types of marina really, one for the quiet refined sailing types and another, a long way away, for the Motorvators  (which suddenly seems like a team from Scrapheap Challenge!)

I assume that these qouted prices are for super yachts that turn up for a few nights? When I was at the Monaco Grand Prix this year, there were several small boats in the innner marina that wouldn't look out of place sitting on the mud at Hoo (where I keep my little raggy). Surely they can't be paying these sort of prices? It would be more than the boat is worth.

Most amusing sight I saw was the owner of an Odyssey 30i calmly adjusting his shrouds while the cars were roaring past just metres away.

We've been looking fort somewhere recently and Naples was more expensive than Monaco. In the end we went for San Remo. Think the list is mainly BS.
Obviously it all depends on vessel size/when you turn up/how much you bung.

A little ot but just stayed a couple of nights in portofino,with beautiful views of the harbour
from our bedroom for 200 euros a night..

In Juan Les Pins / Antibes now LOOKING out at the boats, anything I have looked to charter for the day is 500euro to start with !

B - More classic Riva types heralding back to Lizzy Taylors days. C - A&B D - Some fat tosser who likes sitting in a goldfish bowl eating a foie gras sarny? Remember coming out of there back in the eighties with my newly rigged Phantom 18 with 2.4 offshore merc and seriously pissing off some playboy type in his Cigarette by keeping up with him in rough water. The memory of him looking over, tossing his sunglasses on the dash then leaning the throttles wide open followed very swiftly by a backing off as he'd gone skywards and quite obviously shat himself will live with me forever. and before Simpo gets in I fully accept that I am a fat tosser now that shouldn't wear Breton stripe anymore

Navy hull expedition vessel, can't miss it, where abouts are you? I'm at home on leave at the moment, the boat is the 'big' schooner. It's been in and out a bit in the last few weeks.
