I am a crisp lover, there I said it.

However, easily obtainable crisps at a decent price makes for difficult choices.

My 'go to' have been Walkers for a long time but something has changed and not for the better. Apart from the 45% less salt thing going on the taste has changed and they are weird now and I don't like it so...

Who is your crisp maker of choice? And has anyone else noticed the change in Walkers ready salted? If only Burts were easy to get hold of oop here..

Snackrite nacho cheese tortilla chips from Aldi do it for me. Was a Doritos fan boy for years but the pricing went ballistic and Mrs E 'told' me I had to cut back, either on volume or cost. So...Snackrite it is!

Golden Wonder are better than Walkers.
Smiths salt and shake are the best ready salted though.

I’m sorry but in my opinion, there is no such thing as a bad crisp! Walkers, Golden Wonder, Burt’s, Tyrells, Pipers, Two Farmers, Slabs, Lidl, Aldi, Waitrose, M&S, all of them are brilliant. Admittedly, some flavours are slightly less tasty than others, but it doesn’t matter I can eat big bags or small bags of any of them without the slightest hesitation.
The problem is I can do exactly the same with Doritos, Wotsits, Pringles in fact any savoury snack, except for bloody popcorn which I hate with a passion! Even the so called crisps made from peas, lentils, chickpeas are good enough if there aren’t any potato or corn based snacks within arm’s length!
If I had to pick a favourite it would be a toss up between M&S Smoky Bacon and Kirby Malham Chorizo by Pipers.

My favourite are unflavoured McCoy's. As for "the best", that's subjective, isn't it?

We are straying into the realms of not readily available here, at least oop here.

Walkers are not the same, something bad has happened to them for sure frown

Burts are slightly on the greasy side but they are so good, treat when in Cornwall.

Probably return to normal soon, with factory pushing through new crop.

1 - U.K. shortage of suitable potatoes towards end of season v a commitment printed in the bag to use sustainably sourced British potatoes, may have led to things not being 100% as they’d like…

2 - crisps are not consistent anyway through the year, the factories don’t use one variety throughout, they instead switch as time goes on & length of storage increases. Probably best crisps are just being made now with this season’s potatoes.

Best budget brands are Snackrite from Aldi and Stockwell from Tescos both for 80-90p for 6x25g.

GW and Walkers crisps are at the mercy of greedy
fker retailers with price ranges of 1.30 - 2.00 for a 6 pack.

As for single pack I've seen £1.50 for a 45g Walkers bag.

Baked corn snacks beat crisps hands down as a snack. Space Raiders, Monster Munch, Watsits, and Quaivers.

Please sir, they've always called them that.

My mate works next door to the factory. He says it smells bloody lovely.

Umm, Smiths salt and shake are not "ready salted"? That was the point of the term "ready salted".

For the dominions maybe but if you come back to the mother country it’s most definitely crisps!
