May I be so bold as to suggest you lay your hands on a Laphroaig Triple Wood!

It sits firmly between a deep luxurious Laphroaig + a gentle leaning towards an Ardbeg, and the merest whiff of Lagavulin-ness about it!

If you like the selection you've got there, im pretty sure you'll love the Triple Wood! thumbup

Sounds delightful. I shall try and find some in Australia. Which is never fun.

Should be around 70quid or so. Sigh.

I'm awaiting some good news tomorrow, and if all works out, I'm calling into The Wee Dram at Bakewell to reward myself with a bottle of that.

Glenmorangie nectar d'or is on offer at sainsburys for a tenner off, is it worth a try? Not tried a sauternes cask before.

It is worth it. Lovely rich, sweet flavour and is great for the summer.

After a morning looking at some classic metal we thought we would drive up to Dufftown for a cheap 'indie' blind tasting in the shop - a non event. Then someone outside mentioned the 'whisky fair' in the village hall. Result - £10 for a glass and off I went.

Not big compared to some of the english festival events - only six tables really - but the pick included :-

BenRiach - I love their bottlings as much as Lefty loves the sister sherry drams. The Septendicum (? spelling) 17yo peated hit the spot.

The Douglas Laing stand - The Double Barrel bottlings - Laphroaig / Mortlach - lovely rich nose - peat and smoke in the middle with a bit of Mortlach sweetness on the finish.

Finally the Cadenheads stand, manned by some very crazy Dutch men. Heard of MaltStock before ? - I had, but never met anyone associated with it. You know how some people spend money on cars etc ...
The pick here was a 16yo Sherry Butt Clynelish

And a good sleep - not too pished - good boy.

After an expensive stroll up Hatton Garden with the OH, dropped into SMWS for some nerve-settling.

http://www.smws.co.uk/whisky/128.3_Chestnut_puree_... - first Penderyn I've had the pleasure of trying and it's properly lovely. No great dominant flavours but smooth and warm and very nice indeed.

Don't know if of interest to anyone, however Eddisons Assett Sales are currently selling a load of Whisky off. Various makes/manufacturers.

I know nothing about whisky, but it the RRP prices shown are correct then definately a bargain to be had.
