LiamB said: That came quick.. Large Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style, Large Chips and BBQ Ribs. I'm liking the look of that Sweet and Sour. Doesn't look as artificial and radioactive as my local. That kinda makes it not dirty enough for this thread for me, but f k I'm hungry. Pardon my ignorance but what's Hong Kong style? What's the difference to normal S&S?

I may be wrong but I think S&S chicken hong kong style is breaded/battered chicken and regular S&S chicken is just strips or pieces of chicken. she always orders the hong kong style so that's what we get.

Hong Kong/Cantonese style sweet and sour is fried in a much lighter cornflour batter then coated in the sauce as opposed to the big balls of thick batter with a separate pot of sauce that you get with a normal sweet and sour, I much prefer it.

In my local Chinese, what you have described is sweet and sour chicken balls, you can then have sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style or sweet and sour chicken Chinese style! So many choices!

However, Liam my boy, points lost for lack of presenting flair - would have been nice in something from the casserole dish/fruitbowl family... The Chicken Chow Mein would have taken the whole fruit bowl! I beg to differ. Not all fruit bowls were created equal...

Ticked another regional delicacy off the list while holidaying in the North East this week. Behold, the chicken parmo (with pepperoni hiding under the cheese). Not bad as it goes, surprisingly filling. Came with a little bag of salad which included red cabbage. Bit surprised, but it worked quite well, cutting through all that greasy cheese. Would I order it again? Probably not when you've got so many other kebabby type things on the menu to tempt your solidifying arteries. Just need to organise the next family holiday to Scotland for a munchy box. In fact, has anyone not tried asking at their local to just chuck a tenners worth of everything in a box? Who's up to the challenge?
