zax said: Def Leppard's "Let's get rocked" is pretty appalling... hard to know where to start: Oh, all I wanna do is take a ride into the blue Ev'ry time I want to love you I get stuck inside my room Heaven knows I'm sick'n'tired of dancin' with this broom I feel lucky today Hey, look at that man! Do ya wanna get rocked? Do ya wanna get rocked? Indeed Don't forget all the deeply witty and subtle innuendo like "let's get the rock outta here", "I suppose a rock's out of the question?", "rock the night away" and "let's go all the way - let's get rocked" Poetry, man. Pure poetry.

Anything by Nickelback, Muse or any other faux-alternative s te. About as much depth as Cheryl Cole. And I'm not talking about her front bum.

Mastodon2 said: That album was utter s t. Here are some pretty stinky lines... "Holy diver, you've been down to long in the midnight sea, Oh what's becoming of me? Ride the tiger, you can see his stripes but you know he's clean, Oh can't you see what I mean?" WTF does that even mean? Mr dio was clearly in a different world than the rest of us. Bad lyrics, made great. "hanging from the cobwebs in your mind, it looks like a long long way to fall"

Ralf McTell, Streets of London
"yestersay's papers, full of yesterdays news."
Actually, yesterday's papers were full of the day before yesterday's news, that's the way papers work, you idiot.
Bypassing the fact Ralf McTell is a folk singer, and we are talking rock songs here, given that he is talking about London, there are a number of evening papers available, and therefore yesterdays evening paper could very well be talking about yesterdays news.

Symbolica said: I was always totally confused by the lyric: "Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the rock and roll!"From Jefferson Starship - We Built this CityPresumably they meant Mambo, unless they're suggesting that Marconi played a snake, but either way it makes no sense at all Cracking song, but yes totally awfully lyrics, that sound really uncool played loudly on your car stereo. I will defend Oasis lyrics though - they make sense if you close your eyes and let the words and music fill an imaginary landscape. Ok, it's not Bob Dylan but you can't knock their songs unless you're the same music snobs who don't like Adele (because she's a bit Croydon).

Queen - C-Lebrity I want to be a star in a Broadway musical They're gonna love me, I can't sing or dance at all Some may say I'm lackadaisical and if I was real good I'd stand no chance at all

One of the worst I've heard is "Say It's Not True" from two exponents of Rock - Paul Rogers & Roger Taylor: ...With the wonders of science All the knowledge we've stored Magic cocktails for lives People just can't afford...

I think most Mars Volta lyrics are very clever - Se-loused in the Comatorium is a fantastic concept album. If you know what it is about the lyrics to all of the songs make sense.
