The new gearbox is a work of art as is the triple plate clutch. A larger transmission oil cooler solved excessive gearbox oil temperature and the new exhaust makes it one of the quietest cars out there.

Weather looks set fine so any others fancy a sun tan top-up!

You were rather occupied after the race so I didn't get a chance to congratulate you on completing the race. Well done.

I could tell it was a little warm in the car from the fact the door was open during the Safety Car laps!!!!

I notice many of the other cars had a small scoop on the roof feeding air down onto the driver. 33 degrees is cooler than 45 degrees!

The gearbox did it's stuff so money well spent. With a bit more heat management, which a lot of the other teams need too, you will have a very competitive car.

As a spectator and Ultima fan, yesterday watching the Britcar race at Snetterton was fantastic. Highlights were:

-seeing the Ultima qualify in fifth place;

-nosing around the pits after qualifying, with the Team being happy to invite a complete stranger (i.e. me) to come into the garage and have a closer look at the car. I was amazed to see how familiar it looked under the bodywork, complete with carpet and that very cool gearbox;

-the start and seeing the little Ultima tearing into the first corner with the front runners, and doing well to hold onto its place;

-watching the car move momentarily up into fourth as the Ginetta in front fell off the track;

-seeing that it had the initial pace to keep the chasing Ferrari 458 at bay;

The safety car then came out, and the Ultima pitted. At that point, I kinda lost the thread of what was happening in the race! Am looking forward to seeing a race report, and hopefully finding out what led to the spin in the last hour of the race.

The fantastic weather didn't do any harm either! This was my first attendance at a Britcar race and for an Ultima enthusiast especially, I can thoroughly recommend it. Seeing the Ultima blasting around the track in competion, in such a similar guise as to what I am wating to arrive to start building really adds to the fun of it.

Thanks for your support. I am glad you enjoyed your day, it really is a great event and the atmosphere is always good, its just such a shame that its not promoted as well as it could be by the circuits.

We had a plan to stick to which involved consistently driving at a predetermined pace and had a robust pitstop strategy - it all went well initially however the other driver was suffering with severe heat stroke, meaning we had to pit 3 times more than we has originally planned. The spin at the end was simply down to oil on the track, but the car wouldn't restart as the starter was cooked - frustrating as that destroyed the race for us really.

However, the main thing for us was that all the improvements we made worked - planning for driver issues is always difficult but that is another lesson learnt. We got through a weekend where many of the cars had major issues (engine/diff/gearbox failures) due to the heat and although things in the cab were way too toasty, everything in the engine bay seemed to cope well (just!).

Great video and I like that sequential box, but what on earth is that deep rumble you hear on deceleration? Diff and/or LSD perhaps?

I would imagine its just the overrun? We run fuel cut on overrun so it does tend to sound a little different
