Just watching the start of When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth. And the thought struck me that maybe a reason for the SJs to start over would be the fact we are such a superstitious lot. Instead of creating a race of critical thinkers who look and try to understand, they got a lot of types who believe the craziest s t at the drop of a hat?

Of course that SJ's DNA made dinosaurs as well
I wonder if dinosaurs DNA is an exact match?

We are 86% dafodil or something if I remember right from QI still not sure how on SJ dna can make every single piece of life of earth and through evolution make humans with identical DNA who know the star maps to the SJ WMD plannet without ever having met one.

What it establishes is that the Engineers seed planets and the black goo is the means they use to do so and spread their DNA. It's sort of implied that it was Earth, given what we learn later on when David discovers the control room - but I'm not sure whether the two necessarily have to tie together.

But never explicitly stated. There's nothing to say the engineers aren't the creators, but are aware of Earth & it's technology as a threat & that's what the mission is. Get your retaliation in first.

I wonder if dinosaurs DNA is an exact match? Their speciality appears to be re-engineering other species' DNA - perhaps they have goo which gradually engineers other species into space jockeys as well as goo that engineers them into killing machines.

Yes it matters, we may not have been seeded from them, we may be parallel developing from a previous time, we may have been left rather than seeded, we don't know yet so it matters, the map may be the route to stop us before we develop too far.

It shows that one Engineer drank some goo. It doesn't show that all Engineers are willing to sacrifice themselves, hell, we don't even know if that Enigneer was aware of what would happen when he drank the stuff. He could have been tricked or maybe he was the Engineer equivalent of a suicide bomber. You tell me.

Or even a budget. I watched it again last week. The script is great, the beachball is hilarious.

I think you're all over looking the predator link.
They created the humans so they would have hosts for their aliens to breed and they have something to hunt.
They store the goo that creates aliens on this other planet and ship it to earth every hundred years for their big hunt.
The big alien stored in ice is an initial idea gone wrong.
The engineers just happen to be the same size and build as predators.
I think theres a good and bad engineers, or at least predators and engineers. Something gone wrong and the predators are part alien, part engineer.
Weyland has known about Aliens way back since the 1st.AvP and it all spawns from there.

Theres also the multi-cultural similar signs, sketchings and symbols in each film.
Neither engineers or predators speak, just roar.

Predator is a different franchise brought together by the Dark Horse comics because of a single Easter egg in Predator 2. Ridley Scott is not going to incorporate Predators into his universe. He doesn't even classify the AvP films as 'Alien' films so just drop this idea.
