why is it men just don't seem able to whisper to the person next to them!.
Why is it that women think it is acceptable to even whisper in a cinema. We can still hear you, you know.
Fair point I suppose, except I never hear whispering only low talking and the culprits are nearly always Men. (not saying women are silent though!)

I'm going with a friend to watch it in IMAX tomorrow night, if we can get tickets - Hopefully it's not too busy. We do have back-up films though.

Having promising myself to see all the other films (ironman, Thor etc) at the cinema and other events have taken presidence, birth of a child etc.

So... Really looking forward to a night out watching this after all the hype, never seen IMAX and never seen 3D before either so hopfully it'll be worth the extra!

As someone else said, she plays Robin in How I Met Your Mother.

I saw the film last night, and I think I'm in a minority with this. I found it really rather boring. An hour and a half to set it all up just seemed to drag it all out, and then fit all the action in to the last 30 minutes.

I loved Ironman, quite enjoyed Thor and I have seen Captain America on a plane and can't remember it being terrible, but this really just seemed to drag. Without Tony Stark it would have all been a bit of nothing really. It was more like Ironman 2.5 than a film on its own. Very disappointed, I was hoping for so much more.
Finally somebody else who found it a bit 'meh'.

Something for me didn't quite work, the film seemed too long and there seemed to be too much padding and then a few congested action scenes. I really enjoyed the previous films, although I found Thor to be a bit poor compared to the rest.

A good film, but I don't feel it's as good as everybody makes out. I much prefered Watchmen.

It's an iPhone film.....good, but not quite as "life changing" as the geeks would have you belive.

i thought it was overkill and just another transformers they
lost all the story of each character , i mean even thor didn't give a crap about his bird he left behind which was the whole basis of the thor film .

i think they peaked with iron man 1

it was cool he had a iron man suit in a normal world which made it feel fun

but when theres giant flying air craft carriers everywhere it just felt dull

Rotten are brutal regards reviews and it's scored very well here.

As summer blockbusters and fun go, this will be very hard to beat.

Great film.

I saw this last weekend in Malta. I'll come to my thoughts on the movie later, but as for the cinema experience? Well it puts the UK to shame.

Went to a ude multiplex just like UK ones, and tbh once you were thru the doors it could have been Malta, London, Reading, anywhere really. However a couple of positives and one wierd thing. The positives are I would say the environment was cleaner, the staff more polite and generally everything was a much nicer experience.

Once the movie started anyone who talked got shush'ed by the rest of the cinema and no attitude was fed back. So generally it made us look like a bunch of ignorant, rude scumbags on benefits. Oh hang on,...

As for the wierd bit - there was an intermission. It came just when Cap and Iron Man first put Loki down before he gets put in the back of the helicopter thing so about 45 minutes into the film. The lights went up adn everyone started moving out of their seats - at first I thought the film had failed. 10 mins later, more popcorn / drinks and presumably empty bladders, the movie started again.

Bemused the hell outta me.

As for the movie - I loved, I'm now looking forward to the Hulk movie in 2015 and all the sequels between now and then

As for Cobie Smulders playing Agent Mariah Hill, this was great and she is #1 on my "list of 5" and has been for a very long time. But I do have to sya, it wasnt until this film I thought Scarlett Johansson looked fantastic.

How come there was a moment during the film where someone (seem to remember it was Mr. Fury) told Thor exactly what they'd done with her and how she was working at an observatory where they could keep an eye on her?

I think that was when they lost me. It was complete sc-fi nonsense, even if it had been a movie set 300 years in the future it would be crazy. It just messes with all concepts of reality.....if technology is so advanced that an aircraft carrier can a) fly b) still carry enough fuel to fly and c) go invisible......why is Scarlett using a handgun? Why hasnt she got a laser rifle or a bloody light sabre at least!

It's all fine saying it's "just fun" but it needs to make sense (some sense!) Just too many "thats dumb" bits for me in the last 30 mins SPOILER...

Why do aliens with incredible space ships always start an attack by sending hundreds of lone baddies on little jet bikes not able to do much more than attack the odd pedestrian!(and get beaten by Robin Hood) It's like sending in men on horseback when you have some jets you could use instead!

And how silly was the scene where the aliens had "captured" a bunch of people just in time for the heros to save them??? Sorry, their taking prisoners are they now? They seem to be happy enough to kill every one else they have met!

hmmm....I'm going to have watch this in 2D now to see if it's better than i remember!

Another one of these UK cinemas are hell posts. This is getting really strange. I go to the cinema at least a dozen times a year.
Various ones in Glasgow, Hamilton, Livingston and Edinburgh.

Never, and I mean never have I had a problem with people interrupting a film. They are generally clean, if dull places and for the most part the staff are good too.
Am I alone here in only having good cinema experiences? None of my friends have ever mentioned problems with cinema visits either.

I think some of you are forgetting that these are based on comic books and if it's in the comic book, generally they'll try and do a job of emulating that in the movie. S.H.I.E.L.D. had a giant flying aircraft carrier in the comic books, hence they had one in the film too.

Yes....but you'd think the producers would say a) thats dumb and b) no one will miss it if we drop it.

No, I think the producers would probably say, lets get that in there as it's bloody awesome.

Are you on drugs?
Nah, obviously either needs glasses or is married to Elle 'The Body' MacPherson rolleyes because there is no way that Scarlett Johanson could be described as chunky without one of those 2 criteria being met!

BTW Scarlett didn't use a stunt double, all the fighting and wire work is her own (as it was in Iron Man 2).

Christ. First the 'SJ is chunky' comments, then people complaining that a film containing a flying mechanical suit (fine), a Norse GOD (fine) and a 9ft tall green hulk (fine) also has - God forbid - a flying aircraft carrier.

This thread has run its course for me...

how has it gone from iron man suit being the height of technology in marvel films to a flying aircraft carrier being the norm ????

I think the word you are looking for is nitpicking but then some people are never satisfied to be honest. As for the fantasty elements in this film, I have no problem with people not enjoying superhero movies, sci-fi or fantasy films as everyone has different tastes. I know lots of people see it all as hocus pocus nonsense which is fine too but then if you aren't a fan of the genre, why go to watch such a film in the first place?
