he Finder. Excellent series with a totally setup-for-the-next-series ending.
Who's showing it at the moment? and from what series does it spin?
It's spun off the 6th series. No-one showing it over here at the mo but they're all available via alternative delivery methods.

Journeyman was superb and i was gutted it was only one season.

Far too many really good series get the chop after only one or two series. In fact, if a US series comes to UK television and I see that it has been cancelled after one or two seasons, that's is a pretty good indicator that it will be worth watching.

In addition to those already mentioned:

Space: Above and Beyond
Life
Dead Like Me
Pushing Daisies
Haven (may not be cancelled yet)
Now and Again
Journeyman

On the other hand, if I know a series has been cancelled I may not watch it because I know it will never be 'closed' properly, so there's no point getting into it.

I watched both Rubicon and Carnivàle knowing that they were both binned, I still liked them, and hope they get looked at again one day.biggrin

There is a very very old sitcom called Not With A Bang, it starred Stephen Rea and was a dark sci-fi comedy according to wiki. I loved it and was irked that it was not continued and never repeated.
I wouldn't mind watching it again.

It's a slow burner. I felt as though they could have sped it up a bit but when I watched it a second time I relaxed into the period a bit and felt less irked by the slow pace (because I already knew the outcome).

I understand, and yes I struggled as well...and yes, it gets a lot lot better...though some might say a bit too late? I have a feeling series three would have been a barnstormer.
Where are you up to?

Sometimes series are cancelled for a very good reason

Flashforward took far too long to get going.
Terra Nova was dire for most of its season, only picking up at the end.
I am half way through the second season of Sarah connor chronicles and it is pretty poor so far.
The first season of Dark Angel was brilliant, the second far less so. Does anyone remember the guy who could precisely see the future?-time to call it a day there I feel.

But there were some very good series cut down in their prime

Firefly
Deadwood
Space Above and Beyond

Addmitedly I have only seen a handfull of episodes but every one I saw was dire. 2 of them I wanted my hours back.

Even if the whole series was gold one episode would cancel it all out.

The blonde pilot converted a shuttle craft to travel at Warp 10 thus visiting every part of the universe at the same time so they could have got back to earth in a nano second.

He tests it , comes back to the ship all is ok.

But then he kidnaps janeway and gets back in the shuttle where he goes to a planet and they turn into tiny lizards.

They have baby lizards

But by chance the plannet isnt far from the ship so the ship gets there and rescues them.

Blasts them with radiation and in hours they turn from tiny lizards back into humans with no harm done.

They cancel the project to get home desite having a perfect cure that they can use before any side effects even take effect.

Anyway the programme is a joke every episode I have seen has followed the same st formuala.
That was one of their poorer episodes hehe

The quality of all of the Star Trek spinoffs is highly variable IMO on an episode by episode basis (partly I suppose as most were stand alone). Some are very good, more are virtually unwatchable and the majority sit in the middle as the kind of family friendly sci-fi that is canned after one season these days (Terra Nova).

If you ignore the last two seasons of Voyager (where it is hard to think of any stand out episodes) it probably had the highest hit to miss ratio and the most interesting themes.

I've seen a few comments like this (about various shows), and it amazes me. You watch a season and a half of a show you don't like?

My vote is for Zen. It probably wasn't as good as I thought it was, but it had 90 minute episodes with no adverts (praise Jesus!), it seemed different and pleasingly classy, Rufus Sewell was cool, and Caterina Murino was H O T. But some new BBC gimp whinged "It's too white collar! cry There are too many male detectives on TV! cry "
Yes, Zen was absolutely ace, the best thing the Beeb has made for years, and that moron decided it wasn't needed.
Real frackwit.
I recorded all 3 of these episodes on Sky+ and only just getting round to watching them. Really enjoying them, and given the producers only got 3 episodes they hardly had a chance to develop characters did they. I thought it was very good... Damn the BBC why do they cancel stuff that people actually like because it's not PC enough for them? frown

No I liked the first season but the second one is poor so far.

That seems to be a common problem with shows in that they run out of ideas after a promising start.
