Anyone hear the AA story when Taylor bought a Range for £850 ?
Something didn’t seem right there to me.

If someone paid £8500 for a car 6 months previous with no problems and then had it up for sale for £1k. You knew it was worth £10k maybe but offered £850. Doesn’t sit right with me.
I'm not sure why you expect youtube folk to be truthful about costs etc. They exist to tell stories, so I wouldn't get too hung up on the detail.
They also get people directly messaging them practically begging them to take cars off their hands for next to nothing.

Alex and Taylor seem particularly prone to this. I can only assume the sellers want something gone and fancy seeing their face on YT for 5 minutes.

Those deals are not available to ordinary punters, obviously.

That one did seem fishier than usual though.

Indeed. Any car with any sort of issue is going to have a limited market - and if you are weren't desperate for the money it might be worth letting the car go for nothing than risk selling it for 'something' to some random off Facebook who might take you to small claims court even though you put 'spares or repair' in the advert.

Was this in a video or a podcast? I can't remember seeing this.

A podcast I think, a few weeks ago? If I'm thinking of the same one.

I did wonder at the time how Taylor manages to get so many absolute bargains.

The story behind his old 6 series for 25 quid seems especially dodgy hehe

I do like him though, I think he adds a lot to the AA channel.

It's a clever tactic to stop you scrolling! I've seen a few others do the same; might be worth trying sometime! hehe Here's another recent thumbnail from Becky's channel that employs the same technique ...
Yet curiously, whilst I watch a lot of automotive content on YT, I've never seen one of her thumbnails or been offered one of her videos.

Likewise, I'll also be inclined not to click because going through such lengths with the thumbnail means the content isn't appealing enough on its own without resorting to those gimmicks

Jeez, give her a break. She's just trying to stand out by doing something slightly different in her thumbnails. At least she isn't doing that gormless gurning that most of the usual suspects do. That really turns me of clicking on a video.

To that point, many of the YTers to whom I subscribe are also doing that, so I suspect they're in some way compelled, but it means I don't subscribe to as many new channels as I once did before this clickbaiting became normal.

Not sure if he’s been mentioned in here previously, but I’ve been watching Josh (boqer123) for years now. He’s currently V8 swapping an old 3 series and it’s a great watch. https://youtube.com/@boqer123?si=ALO4xsDbjOuKYwp5

Someone mentioned Alex looks like one of the guys off the Undatables TV show which has just sent me down a rabbit hole.

They're not wrong.

God the whole Nurburgring track section was unbearable, turned it off at that point. Very childish.

Yep! Reminds me why I don't watch AutoAlex much.

I'm sure it gets them more views overall, but 'childish' is just the word to use, none of them are kids anymore so need to act their age, and they produce good content when they do, which should be better for the long term as everyone will get bored of the antics eventually.

I assume you'd rather watch them sat in the car in silence with a stern look on their face.

Have you watched it?

It’s all fake screaming for the camera.

If they were actually having a good time I’d be fine with it
