Just watched the latest AutoAlex v2. For me, Taylor’s really the star of the lot.
100%.

Was a good video. That car wore its 206000 miles very well.

I do wonder if they just stick the cheapest bushes, shocks, springs, discs and pads on it that they can buy in order to maximise profit or if he'll do it justice and fit OEM parts.

Can't be much profit in the latter on a 200k, if any.

I'll never understand why some people who watch youtube videos seem so intent on defending and explaining away the obvious overacting and fake drama.
And I'll never understand why some people will watch Youtube videos they can't stand, and seem so intent on painting everything as fake or staged just because it differs to how they might behave in that situation.

I don’t expect they will be paying for any of the parts so will fit whatever they are given. Would OEM parts even still be available?

I am just enjoying all the car related content while I can. It was only a few year ago when the most we could hope for was 12 episodes of Top Gear per year. Between the big YouTubers we are getting almost that amount per week.
I don’t suspect it will last long so enjoy it while you can.
I’ve unsubscribed from car throttle. Looks like a channel out of ideas and run by the fun police.

It's a dead channel, the latest video is "Are V8 Engines Dead", the first comment is "Car throttle is as dead as the v8."

Sums it up for me.

I bet the company that bought Car Throttle are not happy with Alex!

And if they aren’t, it’s entirely their fault for not supporting him / the channel. Sounds like a classic take over by people who either don’t know what they’re doing, or looking to reduce costs to a bare minimum to maximize profit. Likely both.. hence they lost the whole reason they did well.. the on and off screen talent.

It is not Alex's fault, Ed said in his launch video that CT had cancelled the funding for project cars etc, the channel is dead mainly due to the choices they have made.

CT got bought by a big media company, and the chap who founded it walked away with a full pocket. Said big media company have obviously decided that throwing money at a youtube channel is not a great use of marketing budget. Being brutally honest, and judging by the people you see interacting with youtubers on social media, it doesn't seem to be a particularly affluent audience.

I don't understand why big companies keep doing this sort of thing. Where's the value if the thing they've just bought closes down shortly after because everyone leaves?

When he said I'm going to try and do this myself I did wonder how that was going to work.

Fire being the answer was both funny and not entirely unpredictable biglaugh

According to Social Blade (which should be somewhat accurate for the following stats) for Youtube they have lost 30k subscribers in the last 30 days, but have had nearly a million video views in that same time.

So there's certainly some value to the back catalogue on content. (I assume there is also similar content on their other social media platforms).

I wonder if there is any residual payments to the 'stars' of the old content?

I wonder if it's just that they don't understand how YouTube works, assuming it can just self fund itself with no investment. You'd think they'd learn as many of the media companies/publishing groups already run their own channels. Though I guess there's a difference to making money reviewing press cars and making money investing in projects.

How much does a job like that pay?

Looks like I'm not their target demographic, I've also unsubbed.

Although TBF YouTube didn't put their last couple of videos into my feed anyway.

I watch a few of his vids and he seems like a genuine bloke: Furious Driving.

His review of the Interstyl Hustler is hilarious:

On the AutoAlex podcast Alex said that it was literally overtaken by fun police.

The woman who took charge wouldn't let them do anything and had no understanding of how YouTube worked.

So that's why they've all left.
