He explained on the High Performance podcast that initially he would charge next to nothing for sponsorship deals until one contacted him and told him he could charge far, far more.
I can't remember the exact quote but he can earn thousands just by doing a 30 second advert. He's also a landlord with a couple of homes that he rents out and as mentioned above, his partner Hannah runs the raffle business and they do very well too.

JayEmm has said on here that where the viewers are makes a difference; Americans are worth more to advertisers than Brits. Mat’s apparent international success is likely beneficial to him.

I wonder if he has considered rebuilding Sue, collecting s/h parts as and when they become available.

That might be another project to monetise

He mentioned on the 2nd channel that he might take his time and rebuild as and when he can get parts at a decent price and it may then become a subscriber giveaway car (although in the latest main channel video I’m sure he said he might sell it).

It's fairly well known that social blade is inaccurate, but also well known that earnings tend to be higher than even the high estimates on there.

https://socialblade.com/youtube/c/matarmstrongbmx

It estimates $112k per month, so lets take that down to $100k per month

Then each advert is into the low 5 figures per episode, you could easily call that $100k per month.

He has longer term brand deals (Valvoline) that don't appear as ad placements, but are a constant on his channel. No idea what he'd earn from those, but maybe $5k a month?

Merch can't be much, maybe $1k per month profit?

Then factor in a raffle which has folks estimating $500k to $600k at the end of the projects. (4 x per year makes $2m)

That is from his YT activity alone.. not considering other investments / property we've heard about.

A very rough guestimate would put him at $375-$400k per month (I pro rated the raffle proceeds to be monthly)

I'm sure he's doing just fine hehe

Why do people even worry about such stuff? It’s something entertaining to watch, I don’t remotely care about his finances!
Do people sit and watch East Enders or whatever and wonder if the actors can cover their bills? biglaugh

It's possibly just wondering if it's sustainable, I suppose it's got to be if he does this full time though.

He made ~ £1m profit between July 2022 and 2023. I think he’s doing ok, so don’t lose any sleep.

He's very likeable and unlike a lot of people out there he's likeable by a huge range of different people so i wouldn't be surprised of top gear type roles in the future as well.

Good luck to him, worked very hard to get himself going and has done better already than most could dream of.

Not too sure why he’d want a “top gear” type role.

He’s much better off riding the YouTube wave until the bubble bursts.
He seems switched on enough not to squander his profits, so even if it only lasts a few years he’ll be set for life. That said. His finances are his own business.
At least his not rinsing punters on Patreon.

Fair play to him. He’s living a lot of peoples dream.

I don't many would turn down a few hundred grand a year to present an internationally popular tv show.

I don't know, all i'm saying is i think he will do very well.

He currently earns more than that currently presenting an internationally popular TV show and importantly he gets to decide what he does.
Why would he want to go and drop caravans on morris marinas?

That alone, probably.

I think plenty would

Top Gear would mean jacking in one's very lucrative YouTube enterprises.

Chris Harris' book details some of the red tape with the BBC, I would imagine that would drive a character like Armstrong absolutely nuts.

And constantly st on people that are doing well. Who gives a hoot? Jealously is a poison that affects the container holding it.

I'm jut glad I have an overwhelming selection of free car content on YouTube when 20 years ago you had one TV show if you were lucky, and a few DVD's.

Yes. and it's instantly accessible.

I've still got a large collection of self-recorded DVDs of Wheeler Dealers and others from before you could record on Sky, and pre Youtube's popularity. I linked the PC to the telly and edited out the adverts and made my own DVDs.
