what was the point of Raj's dad being there?
I think that was meant to be a be 'wooooo' moment for the die-hards as he's only ever been on via a laptop screen before - didn't do much for me, same for lovely dovey bits between Sheldon and Amy - it all got very 'Friends' there - ultimately though, it was a Xmas episode (in March) so was probably meant to be heavy on the emotional stuff.

The one last night, it was the Xmas Eve dinner one?
Yes. Pretty weak episode. I rather liked Sheldon's shopping trip with Bernadette when he unexpectedly reeled off a list of things that Amy would like - it was touching.

The only moment I laughed was when Howard stunned the pigeon with the fire extinguisher.

Oh it was fine, a decent episode. Sometimes it sounds like people expect each one to go wow, but it was funny and pretty good.

Hopefully nowhere - It felt a bit strained and all too convenient.

I wonder if we'll see anything of Penny's family - Perhaps even find out her surname smile

Probably, every other idiosyncrasy about the characters and show in general has been diluted or removed now.

Other than her dad?

Quite.

I do wonder where the show can go - pregnancy, Sheldon/coitus, Amy moving in with Sheldon? The possibilities are endless (!)

I agree, it felt to me like another one-time anecdote, as opposed to a long-time plot direction.

This US episode looks like it might actually be interesting:

http://www.thefutoncritic.com/listings/20150429cbs...

"The Maternal Combustion" - Personalities collide when Sheldon and Leonard's mothers finally meet

There's a Howard bit too, but that sounds like it'll just be painful to watch....

Any episode with Christine Baranski (Leonards mother) in always makes me laugh. She's great in The Good Wife, so getting to see her play a comedic role in BBT is always good smile

The new US episode was the best I have seen in a long time.
