The Big Bang Theory

That final episode felt like somebody in the production team had said "You know we're getting slagged off for this season being rubbish, and you know what they're right, so for the last show we have to make a huge leap in the story arc. Some of the characters you could see the plot progression, but Sheldon and Amy, where the heck did that come from.

I agree. It felt like it was written in for the sake of adding impact. A shame really. toohuge said:

I agree. It felt like it was written in for the sake of adding impact. A shame really. Bit like the rumours during one of the 24 seasons, several sets of scriptwriters working on different parts of the season. Each set trying to outdo the next with cliffhangers. Almost a game.

I watched this ages ago when it was aired and again last night - It all felt rushed and a bit slapdash.
The Leonard/Penny thing was just too contrived for my liking - And the ring, that just felt tossed in as an afterthought...
Just another "woooo" episode for me, named after the sound the 'live studio audience' makes when they suddenly drop in a big plot shift - usually involving a love story. The Leonard/Penny thing was just too contrived for my liking - And the ring, that just felt tossed in as an afterthought...
When it's good, it's great - the "bodies of the dead sinners" line alone was worth the price of admission - but sometimes it goes all friends, forgets it's meant to be a silly fun comedy and turns into a soap opera.
Nothing definitive, it seems, but this link:
http://bigbangtheory.wikia.com/wiki/Season_9
Contains details of 4 (at present) of the Season 9 episodes - It looks interesting to say the least.
As above, that link's a giant spoiler - potentially.

Oh dear oh dear, it appears that the writers have forgotten that they are writing a comedy and instead have chosen to write a soap. 1 out of 10 is being generous.
This is what happens when a comedy becomes focused on relationships rather than its original storyline. Funk said:
It's a completely different show to when it started and one I'm fast losing interest in. Not really sure where else they're supposed to go with it though. Perhaps it should've ended a season or two ago. The Breaking Bad creators understood this and ended on a high despite what must have been enormous pressure to keep a monster of a show rolling.
Now after watching BB, I can comment. BB was singular in that one guy created and had an endgame all the way at the start (a brilliant example of character study), I think only BSG can say the same. He had a map he followed, most other shows meander and are at the whim of the suits...just thought of Game of Thrones, another endgame/roadmap show. Sitcoms rarely (ever?) have endgames. Only Fools reached a natural endpoint..and then continued for a few years.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
