andy400 said: Now I'm really confused. (About the above, not my sexuality ) Is that a Glee thing? It's part of a larger story arc in the program, regarding the openly gay character's trying to win parental acceptance, doing things like joining the football team (with one of the funniest scenes in the first season to the tune of "Single Ladies"), teenage angst, "coming out", dealing with how others treat him, and fear of a particularly nasty, violent homophobe. Which is kind of the point mentioned about 3 years ago on this thread (OK, maybe 2 pages ago) that it deals with some pretty hard hitting and adult themes, in a way which is simultaneously sensitive and humorous (with show tunes). It is this that sets it above supeficially similar things such as High School Musical and Camp Rock, and this that also makes it a program for adults rather than a children's program.

freecar said: So the post earlier where Garlick said it wasn't acceptable wan't good enough then? I didn't want to discuss it with you so I reported it to the mods, it would seem that my report wasn't totally unfounded as Garlick has commented that this is not the direction that this thread should take, I don't know what more you want? Garlick's post wasn't that specific. Had it have been then I would have accepted it, and know I know what prompted it I shall take heed. IM merely making hte point that your opinion on what is 'offensive' is totally irrelvant and no more valid than anyone elses thus you telling me that something I post is 'offensive' and that I shouldn't post is ridiculous.

andy400 said: For gay adults? There are also story arcs about a teenage pregnancy. Quite hetero really. Also a young lad confined to a wheelchair, a phantom pregnancy to save a marriage, an OCD character and an outwardly brash and uncaring teacher who is also the only carer for her disabled sister. The coming out story is not the ONLY storyline in the show.

Although I think at least 95% of current TV offerings is utter drivel, so make of that what you will.

boredofmyoldname said: if watching Glee doesn't make you as camp as a row of pink tents with gay men in them then I don't know what does. How very dare you Seriously, Glee is one of those shows where you just [/i]know[/i] you are going to have your heterosexuality called into question when you admit to watching it, but hey ho, I still enjoy watching it (and listening to Celine Dion - can open, worms everywhere.........).

blindswelledrat said: SO your opinion on the 'line' dictate what other people can and cannot say? Is that how it works? You are right so eveyone adheres to exactly your perception of what is offensive? I beg to differ. I shall continue to adhere to the levels Garlick and Co deem acceptable and tone down where advised. Everyone has thier own personal sensitivites on particular subjects and if we spent our lives pandering to the most sensitive common denominator then we wouldn't be able to say very much. If you genuinely disagree with this post then yours and my opinion are so far apart that there is no common ground and further discussions are pointless You fancy Kurt don't you?

:Removes wooden spoon from saaby93's kitchen wall: Obviously those of us who watch Glee and cycle should now declare ourselves screaming gheyers. Points to a threadYes I know it's about cycling, bear with me on that thread it starts bottom page 1 and gets better on pages 2 and 3. Back on topic I've been having dreams about Santana's ass-shaking dance in her duet with Mercedes. Obviously that neutralises the screaming gheyer bit.

That was one seriously bad show. Didn't compare to the movie at all. Still the Britney/Brittany episode was top class.

I must admit I hate, HATE all American teeny bopper high school tripe, BUT I make an exception for GLEE! It's the one liners and the sarcastic undertone that makes it what it is. Sadly I do soetimes find myself cringing at some of the songs and the obvious auto tune adjustments, but most of the time I find myself singing along. The rocky horror one was an extra special treat.

I hate the way they sing. They butcher every song they sing. It sounds terrible to me.
