Why the need to keep shooting? If he's but naked, you can see whether he's armed. Surely it would have been safer for the victim for the police to just pull the attacker away?

If you were a lone police officer and you came upon that, would you try and wrestle the guy off? What if he's a hell of a lot stronger than you and turns on you? I think the officer was totally right to shoot.

M If I was a cop with my cop buddies then probably yes. Or at start with the taser or pepper spray. Bullets can and do go through and they also ricochet especially at what looks from the pictures as very close range.
