UKIP also want to charge foreign drivers using our roads. I think that is fair enough given how much in tolls that I have had to pay driving around Italy, France etc.
You miss one very important detail... Are you charged differently to a local driver on those roads?
Yes you are.
Care to give us any evidence of which countries do that? Because neither France nor Italy do.

I think the main difference is that vehicle users are charged substantial amounts to run on many of these continental roads, whereas from the continent use our road free of charge except for isolated toll bridges / tool roads.
Everybody uses our roads on the same pricing basis, so long as all their vehicle taxes are paid in their home country - which is required everywhere for temporary import of any vehicle. Exactly the same as everywhere else, unless Captain Slow can prove otherwise.

I didn't find the pics funny but have laughed at people hurting themselves thousands of times. Everybody's sense of humour is different. Arguing that people getting hurt isn't funny is just wrong.

Broke most of his ribs, split his sternum, bruised heart, two cracked vertebrae (and nerve damage and other associated stuff with the neck), a punctured lung and a good smack in the mush.

Apart from that he was fine...

More importantly lost a shoe!

That is a pretty horrendous crash, and as said...no matter what your thoughts on his policies are...I wouldn't wish that upon him.

The naked foot is not his, he is wearing both stripy socks and shoes in that photo.

That photo might well have been important evidence to the CAA enquiry.

Even if you aren't - what difference?

I pay a damn sight more to occasionally drive my little two seater on these roads than all these huge heavy trundling eastern european lorrys, - I am sure they cause more wear and tear than I, - why are they using our roads for free?

Yep. Mont Blanc tunnel, I seem to recall. All foreign vehicles had a 25%ish levy or some such? I forget exactly as we did Monaco to Turin to the other side of the Alps in one day. In a Bongo Friendee.

Survived but was mentally scarred, threatened to kill Farage later in the year as he blamed him for his downfall and later killed himself! Sad tale.

And that wouldn't change my opinion at all. They might believe they're doing the right thing, I don't.
