I assume either:

- The "spa" was the final straw for the last few people in the village who would speak to them and they want to start afresh elsewhere, or
- They were always planning to sell it after building the spa
Slowly being surrounded by housing estates.

Cant see it selling at that price tbh.

I used to live in the village and know a number of people who still live there, I understand that they are entirely shunned by the natives now.

Funny, the agent (and presumably vendors) have clearly made a decision to not mention the current owners or the recent history of the property in the description, but still decided to include TWO photos of the entrance hall with the statuette of Cpt Tom and his zimmer frame.

It funny, when I first heard about all the Capt Tom nonsense back in lockdown I just assumed it was a little old man walking around his council house garden. It was only later with all the memorial spa crap I realised it was quite a posh gaff. And now I've come full circle really after seeing the rightmove listing, a quick scan on google maps/streetview and it looks like it's surrounded by a load of "council style" housing rofl

No disrespect to anyone living in those houses, but Capt Tom manor looks very out of place there, £2m seems rather steep.

The particulars of sale will be an interesting read and probably quite lengthy!

(1) Property Information Form (TA6 Form): Sellers must complete this crucial document. It covers various aspects of the property, including boundaries, disputes, alterations, guarantees, and environmental issues. Accurate and detailed information about the property’s condition and known problems must be provided.

(2) Building and Planning Permissions: If the property underwent significant alterations or renovations, sellers must disclose whether necessary planning permissions and building regulations approvals were obtained. This ensures buyers are aware of compliance issues.

(3) Information about Disputes or Complaints: If there have been disputes or complaints related to the property or its neighborhood, sellers must inform potential buyers. This includes disputes with neighbors, planning disputes, or other legal issues.

hehe

That'll get bought buy a developer and levelled.

If i was spending £2m on a house to live in, it would certainly not be that one, or there!

As soon as I saw it, the first thing that came to mind was how many houses I could get on it - and that thought starts to make the price sensible.

Otherwise - it smacks of - they don't want to sell it.

The price is bonkers - for the same money and a short drive away, you could've bought this: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/120826208

I like how they've blurred all the pictures out, but left the big bronze statue in full view in hallway photos too.

The agent mentions Sir Tom, the famous garden and the charity in the Sales Video.

Either that, or I guess they can chop the garden up and sell that off for development?

Not easy with a LB as it’s often its setting/grounds that are ann important element of the listing.

ETA I’m sure the grasping family would have exhausted any development potential on the site before marketing it.

Well the spa had to be pulled down after losing a planning appeal because the development impacted the listed building.

Presumably somebody could build the original home-office as approved, but any sort of housing would seem to be out of the question.

Part 3.
Unlikely any information the seller provides will come as a surprise to a buyer.

Nice, I particularly like how with all that stabling and outbuildings, they still felt the need for a small shed in the garden (to the top left of the aerial pics)
