Can anyone name a noteworthy person who is facing multiple trials for criminal acts. Perhaps one related to the subject of the thread.

I thought you had to be born in the US to be President?

Guessing it’s a slow news day for Trump.

Well, rather than campaigning or spending time with his family, he spent his days away from Court playing golf or the occasional ranty post. Not much to say.

According to this clip trump actively refused to send in the National Guard, who were actually on their starting blocks 2 miles away waiting for the call that never came.

I heard on the Americast podcast that the current trial is the only one that's likely to be heard before November (i.e. the other 3 trials he's facing won't start before the election).

is that correct or have I got it wrong?

Also when will he have to pay the money to EJC and has his $175m bond issue been sorted yet?

Surely he must have carded a 59 to prove that despite everything he’s still the bigliest, bestetestest golfer ever.

A post on this thread a week or so ago put me onto a documentary "Democracy on Trial" which was shown on PBS America on Sunday.

https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/documentary/dem...

Showed the myriad ways in which DT didnt make any attempt to stop what was going on despite multiple people trying to encourage him to do so.

To be fair it was a rather one sided programme but it did have one lawyer saying that whilst a lot of things he has done might be considered the "wrong" thing for a President it doesn't necessarily mean that in each case he has broken the law.

That’s the feeling after the SCOTUS oral arguments, correct.

trumps trying his "lock her up" again, giving a Time Magazine interview where he says Biden will be locked up, saying he would appoint a special prosecutor to investigate him. Weaponisation against his opponents again.

trump linked it to his immunity attempt. "If they said that a President doesn’t get immunity, then Biden, I am sure, will be prosecuted for all of his crimes,"

Says the man impeached for trying to manufactuer dirt on Biden, when Comer and Jordon have failed to find anything other than more manufactured dirt...
https://time.com/6972021/donald-trump-2024-electio...

In the interview trump also claimed "There is a definite antiwhite feeling in the country, And that can’t be allowed either.”

More racist dog whistles to his base

How long before trump lawyer Blanche decides enough is enough?

Apparently trump is blaming him, says he's "insufficiently aggressive", trump wants him to attack everybody, the Judge, witnesses, the prosecution, even what he claims is a hostile jury.

Trial resumes today - day 5

Bidens two biggest crimes, beating Trump at the ballot box and being president while Democrat not Trump. Trump’s problem is that neither of those are actually illegal, no matter how much Trump wants them to be.

Thanks.

My pessimism appears to be fully justified.

Beeb are reporting he's been fined $9k for breaching gag orders. Chances of that being enforced/collected?

I try and avoid the predicting the future game when it comes to Trump. After the scheduling of this I wasn't surprised they're kicking it into the long grass, it is pretty interesting to hear just how far some of the Justices are willing to go to make a President-King, though.

506 likes. So that's 350m minus 506 who don't like it. Sounds fair...

Nauseating but not overly surprising - the US political system started to resemble Zimbabwe a few years ago.

Currently in Atlanta and the homeless problem is pretty bad too. I'm out here about once a year to visit our head office and have noticed it's gotten a lot worse since COVID.

All deodorants were locked up in the CVS near the hotel and in the Target at Atlantic Station, the socks were about the only clothes with security tags..
Downtown Atlanta is a little rough. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton last year and the main doors were kept locked because the homeless folk were wandering in. Entrance and exit was through the side door only. That end of Peachtree has gone downhill in recent times.
