Humza is a post turtle. For those not familiar

An old rancher pinched his hand in a squeeze gate to the point of needing stiches. While his doctor was stitching him up their conversation came around to politics, when the doctor asked the old man what he thought of the current President.
The rancher responded by saying he thought the President was no more than a "Post Turtle."
He further explained, "When you're driving down an old country road and you come up upon a turtle balanced on a fence post, that's a post turtle."
Noting the curious look on the doctor's face, he realized that the doctor still did not understand, so he continued, "You know he didn't have the ability to get there himself, he has no idea how he got there or what he's doing, he has no natural ability to accomplish anything from there, and you can't help but wonder what idiot put him there. You can only pity him, for the injuries he'll receive when he falls from that post."

Invaluable use of police time.

It can't be long now till Dumza pokes his nose back into the Israel Gazza Hamas and now Iran conflict...I wonder who will get the next cash injection, it sure as fk won't be anything in Scotland that's for sure.

I've had a great idea...why not send our globetrotting No1 fat piggy Angus Robertson as Scotland's peacekeeping special envoy to the middle east, after all our politicians are world class and should be able to resolve their little stramash in no time.
I'm surprised he hasn't said anything yet, especially criticising everyone except Iran. If only the Foreign Office could shut him up and tell him to concentrate on his own country.

Humza urging against escalation with Iran?

Why is the jumped up lord provost getting involved in international politics ?

Is that not what the U.K. government are there to do

Wings are fairly unequivocal.

It loosely reminds me of the DM headline regarding Stephen Lawrence’s killers many years ago - ie we accuse you of this, sue us if we’re wrong.

https://wingsoverscotland.com/humza-yousaf-is-a-ra...

I can’t say I disagree with any of it.

Is anyone surprised? He's a terrorist sympathiser.

Old conspiracy theories never die. A letter in The Herald today repeating the old steal our water nonsense. Goes a step further by saying it will be taken by tankers from Loch Ness. Every tanker dropping the level of the loch by one meter.

Basic arithmetic suggeststhe river ness outflow would fill a supertanker every 16 minutes with water that would otherwise go into the sea. So the effect on Loch levels would be nil. Even in the fantasy world where England imports water instead of building a few reservoirs.

Entertaining article in Wings today about the Greens. Liked this comment.

"I won’t be going. I’d rather st in my own hands and clap than listen to Patrick Harvie. "

I'd like to see the tanker that would drop Loch Ness by 1 metre when you filled it.biggrin

What would that be, 56 billion cubic meters of water?

It's not going to be able to cross any bridges, that's for sure.

Walked down Sauchiehall street on Saturday, it's not far off a bombed out city in Donetsk. Boarded up shops, burnt out ABC (burnt out School of Art behind), burned down/demolished block caused by the Pavilion/Victoria's Nightclub fire (wasn't this years ago?), and a huge trench down the entire pedestrianised section. Lovely.

Yeah, was down for a gig the other weekend and it's not an especially appealing area any more. Still a good night out but it's just ending up there by default because that's where the bands are playing rather than any specific desire to visit the place!

I would give it 5-10 years.
Look at Princes Street in Edinburgh. It went through bad times in the last few years but its coming good again with the tram line completed
Old BHS building is opening as Uniqlo soon. Debenhams is turning into a hotel, Jenners refurb progressing, St James quarter getting busier and busier. Concert hall getting built round the back and many other brands movving in and kicking out the American candy shops.

Out at Fort Kinnaird the old Wilkco shop has already been sold to Addidas and Home Bargins moving into the old Mothercare shop.

I think overall it shows an uptick in the Economy.

I am not sure Sauchiehall can be compared with Princess St. Princess St is in the capital and right beside the main rail station with a view of the castle. Sauchiehall st is on the periphery of the city centre with a view of the food delivery guys hanging about. It used to be a shopping area in its own right. A good music shop. M and S. Watt Bros. etc. M and S are in the Fort and Braehead now. We were there this morning. They ain't coming back.

It's a bit sad. I used to enjoy a stroll along Sauchiehall St. Or going to the pics at the ABC. Saw the Pretenders at Tiffany's. Back in the heyday none of the big off the motorway shopping centers existed.

It needs major work. I hope it comes back but not sure.

Heard a taxi driver on the radio saying he would like Kelvin Way reopened. He regularly took tourists along it when they wanted shown the best of the city

The presenter said she liked it closed for walking her dog. For fks sake there is a gigantic park both sides of Kelvin Way how much space do you need.

Typical nimby. Suits her. Too bad for anyone that needs to drive round the west end.

I agree. Sauchiehall St and Princes St are not a fair comparison.

Although, Princes St *IS* a bit grim at the moment but it has headroom to improve. Sauchiehall? Not so much, imo.

I'd also agree re opening Kelvin Way.

Loch Ness contains more water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined.
