As hidetheelephants said earlier, the VDR didn't stop recording, but all the instruments feeding data to it stopped working when the power went off

Infuriating that the messages along the bottom of film obscure the stuff you want to see.

Northern half of the channel is going to be open for vessels with draft up to 32' from Thursday morning according to the port authority. Quick work by the wrecking crew, now for the southern half and the Dali.

Hopefully the crew, who have to remain on board, survive the use of cutting charges to remove the remainder of the bridge

Not that the Americans have a well deserved reputation for being heavy handed where explosives are concerned, no sir.

I imagine they will be told to stay in the accommodation while the blasting is going on, the accommodation is shielded by the stack of containers and is over 70m from the nearest part of the bridge wreckage.

Because the ship is still at sea, it's not sinking but they can't get to a dock right now due to it being stuck; once freed it will go to a dock for an inspection by divers and temporary repairs to the bow, the crew may be relieved at that point but with the crew being from where they're from it would be unsurprising if they stay on board until the ship gets back to the far east.

Talk of using precision cutting explosives to dismantle the large piece that's on the Dali.
Some info here:-

The spams take liberties with regard to allowing seafarers shore leave, especially non-caucasians.

And it mentioned "Refloating" the ship, odd term if it hasnt sunk.
