Wonder how much sales of these and hot tubs will be affected by the home bill increases.
There will probably be lots of 2nd hand ones for sale soon, and then for the next decade there will be rear gardens with green mouldy collapsed and torn inflatable hot tubs that have been discarded under the torn mouldy trampoline. One for the council thread me thinks smile

After testing the water for 18 months with a Lazy-Spa we’ve bitten the bullet and ordered one of these to replace it.

Looking forward to delivery in a few weeks.
Looks brilliant. I've thought I'd like one of these. Be interested in feedback after you've had it for a while of the ease and time it takes to heat up.

A shame they don't do them that bubble.
They do, it’s an option that my wife wanted. However, it’s not as full on as some brands with jets. I’ve been told it takes between 2-3 hours to heat up from cold so shouldn’t be too bad and we always have a ready supply of firewood since moving to Devon.

No water meter and only electricity for the lights and bubbles if used, so should be cheaper to run than the Lazy-Spa IMO.
Sounds brilliant mate. Hope it works out well.

IIRC most people in summer months were saying costs roughly £30-£40/mo in electricity.

Now thats basically doubled in 2022 its £60-£80.... mmm pretty expensive now tbh,

About the same as a night out.

Still sounds decent value for money.

They are brilliant. I'm on my third
First was gifted to me in 2016, i ran it for a year, liner failed.
Bought a hawaii, it was never right from the moment i got it. It failed last year with EO2 code, replaced various bits & bobs to no avail, gave it to my neighbour who is an electronics guru. I never plugged in the water pump when i stripped it rolleyesbiggrin
Bought another hawaii which is excellent, new upgraded pump, better liner. Just works.

So the sun has caused our Monaco to go pop today. Quite a large split. Looks like there was a weak or soft spot so it bubbled then split based on the wrinkly vinyl making it look like it stretched first.

The Monaco is one that has to be inflated to a fairly high pressure. We did put a parasol over it but not good enough, if I had thought I should have let some air out. I had thought the water might act as a bit of a heat sink. I'd been worried about the egg (turned off) and the lid, not the liner.

Kicker is we'd used it once this year at the weekend!!

Question is can these things be fixed? It's beyond a puncture repair kit but could it be vinyl welded somewhere? It's £700 for the same one!!

I assume over the last few days hot tub owners will have had the heating on their tubs turned off so they had somewhere cooler to dunk?

I've not done it, but found a couple of YT videos a while ago when I was researching adding an air source heat pump - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ac5Xkj0cQlM

Some info. re. pipe sizes in the comments.

Seems interest in Hot Tubs has fallen off a cliff. I have a nice clean Lay-Z-Spa I'm trying to sell on marketplace...almost no interest.
I guess now everyone's back at work, combined with the cost to heat the things has consigned them to history.

I noticed they were 50% off (if not more) in B&Q at the end of summer. Be thankful it’s only an inflatable one you bought for a few hundred quid and not a £5k proper one.

On eBay, it's very clear that some retailers/warehouses are trying to get rid of stock.
The 'proper' tubs could be a very good secondhand purchase, on the basis that they are better insulated than the inflatable ones?

Might be tempted to pick up a cheap hot tub if things are going to get worse.

Noticed my local company are fitting air sourced heat pumps for about £1700 to tubs not sure if they are good investment or not.

I'm having a play with attaching a heat pump that I bought earlier in the year for the garden pool which due to the weather we've not bothered putting up this year. The idea is to make use of our excess solar to heat more efficiently. It's the first day using this, so no real feed-back other than it's annoyingly 'noisy'.

The pipe connections are not great - this would need improving if it were to become a permanent feature.

Everyone still using their tub?

I haven't got one but chatting to a mate today who inherited a proper full size tub with his house, says he loves it and has it powered and in use over Autumn, winter & spring and turns it off and empties it when the summer heats up as it's then too hot to use.

I quite fancy one when I retire in 3yrs time. Might have to try out an inflatable one first.

Love our inflatable hot tub but given the money and an idea of what I want out garden to look like. Long term, I'd definitely have a proper hot tub. More to buy but far better long term insulation etc so likely to be cheaper overall.

My pal has a spare lazy spa lid that fits our so going to see how I can insulate better, maybe
Using thermal foil insulation roll and polystyrene balls etc, see bo much difference it makes.

Tempted to set mine up soon. Mrs is still "but its so expensive to run"...

My MO is going to be heat it up overnight whilst we get cheap electricity... then hopefully it will stay warm enough to use at say lunch time.

I'm also tempted to use some hose pipe and a slow pump to recycle our hot tub water in the summer. Save paying loads for electric.
