Any suggestions for a mat for our pool (we're too cheap for a hottub!)? It's 10ft and to go on the patio, with rough slabs, so I'd like to protect it.

Looking at interlocking foam pads and it's not cheap! Thought someone with a laz-y spa or similar would have faced this issue.
Have you looked at kids interlocking mats? There fairly cheap and available in Aldi/Lidl/B&M.
I'm on a hot tub group on Facebook and have seen people do this, so there is potential this may work.
I've been looking and can't seem to get enough for a 10ft pool for under about £40.

But, I came up with a genius idea, underlay. £18 for 10m2 (so more than enough) https://www.screwfix.com/p/vitrex-premier-wood-lam...

A little bit more but celotex like insulation is a good shout.. two sheets cut into a circle and you get the added benefit of its insulation properties.

Ours is resting on a 100mm Celotex 1.8m x 1.8m square (iirc). This is alongside and level to our existing deck. I'm sure the insulation helps, but not sure how much it helps. I bought mine at pre covid prices though. We have the Hawaii, which is squarish.

Celotex has good compression strength - we have a 5000 litre pool on 100mm elsewhere in the garden.

is Celotex waterproof out of interest?

Celotex is waterproof.

I liked the insulation idea as it'll have a bit of give in it, so ideal for under the pool liner. From memory Celotex dents and doesn't bounce back, so you'll end up with an uneven floor.

Mine is going on a patio with Indian sandstone, so quite uneven. Either products would take up the slack and also probably provide a nice cold temp barrier to the ground.

I've used Celotex outdoors for the last 3 years I think. The exposed bits brown in the Sun and the foil eventually starts to disintegrate off. I've covered mine with some roof tile underlay which I had spare. You could cover the exposed parts with composite decking for example.

In terms of denting, I've not experienced any problems. I can certainly walk on a 100mm board without causing any damage. I have the mat which came with the spa between the Celotex and the liner.

I think it's all getting a bit complicated. This is just a 10ft paddling pool to cool off in after all! The mat you're talking about is basically what I want, without spending £50 on it!

Just received our lazy spa St Moritz Tuesday, erected, filled and treated it. Went in yesterday a couple of of times.

Brilliant. Really happy with it.

I got the dreaded EO2 error, so i left the tub over the past month or so, its in a shed so wasnt fussed too much about it.
Flushed the tub & pump. Still got the same issue so removed the water pump & found the water pump housing cracked, impellar was fine. Replaced pump. Built it back up, fill liner with water to cover the filter & chem connect. Still getting an EO2 error. Pump doesnt sound like its wanting to start up.
I've got a back up MK1 pump, so done a thermal reset on that & its all good.
Anyone got ideas ?

You should be able to get to the flow switch and nobble it to check that the pump actually runs and starts. I think it’s on the input side inline with the valve and flips up when water is flowing.

Have you done the backwashing trick with a hose yet ? I.e up the out pipe for 10 mins

Thanks for the comments. Tried all the basic stuff. The pump housing was cracked, so must have been frozen so dont think that was the cause.
I'm going to strip the flow sensor tonight & have a look at that. Its running fine with the MK1 pump so its not a flow issue with the liner.

My hot tub shows the temperature as being 40 but if you swirl the water round by hand the thermostat drops to 35/36.
i.e. the pump appears to be merely circulating the water in the immediate vicinity of the heater element & thermostat.

I've only really run the thing during the winter but it's causes much angst when people get in expecting 40 and it's actually a lot lower.

This is an MSpa not a Lazy Spa. I've not seen mention of this elsewhere and I'm curious as to whether the pump isn't powerful enough?

Did it used to work better than it does now?

I have a limescale cleaner box (bought of eBay but you
Can make it yourself out of some drainpipe, couple of connectors and some hot glue). And my flow (Lzs) is much improved after a bit of a descale.

After testing the water for 18 months with a Lazy-Spa we’ve bitten the bullet and ordered one of these to replace it.

Looking forward to delivery in a few weeks.

Late reply but…

We had this issue and is was a small flap in the pump. This has a small magnet on it and when running is pushed up and seems to complete a circuit to tell the pump that the water is flowing. I replaced this little flap that the wife found on eBay and this fixed the issue.

Hi,
This a brand new pump. (I burnt the old one out...)
The old one seemed to work OK initially but then gradually the water needed swirling by hand to get the heat distributed (until I killed it by running it without any water)

The water comes out of the MSpa unit very gently - you can barely feel the flow. Does the water exit the Lazy Spa unit with some force?

I started this thread in 2016 and that’s is just upgrade to spa number 2

The original lasted well, got a few punctures, the plug melted and I had to buy a seal kit for the pump, but I’m well impressed, it still goes but going to give it to someone.

Bought the Paris which is slightly bigger, has LED lights which are pretty cool, I’ve noticed they’ve upgrade the pump, the liner etc on it, they’re cracking, we’ve toyed with a proper hot tub but love this as the wee ones can splash about in it as well.

Wonder how much sales of these and hot tubs will be affected by the home bill increases.

Looks brilliant. I've thought I'd like one of these. Be interested in feedback after you've had it for a while of the ease and time it takes to heat up.

A shame they don't do them that bubble.

They do, it’s an option that my wife wanted. However, it’s not as full on as some brands with jets. I’ve been told it takes between 2-3 hours to heat up from cold so shouldn’t be too bad and we always have a ready supply of firewood since moving to Devon.

No water meter and only electricity for the lights and bubbles if used, so should be cheaper to run than the Lazy-Spa IMO.
