My boiler min is 39 - below that is OFF

Even at 55 it only runs for 4 mins before it overshoots - it’s then off for 11 mins until return temp hits below 37 deg

Only feeding 4 rads in rooms that haven’t reached target temp yet (plus the rads that are getting trickled with almost shut trv’s)

I think I’ll try range rating first and see if I can get a longer slower burn - the slow fast slow on the boiler results in getting to 55 very quickly once it hits 57 it shuts down

Had a couple of sunny enough days here in the NE near the sea to warm the house to 18 ish, but heating still needed on a night/morning. With another monthly spend of £220 on gas alone last month and sitting cold for most of it I can't wait for summer.

Twelve? That's ridiculous. What are you, a penguin?

I didn't think my house was all that well insulated (1986 built 3-bed semi) but my 'stat is set to 9.5°c and almost never comes on. This morning I reported that my Hive thermostat was showing 13.2°c. I went out this afternoon for a couple of hours on a bike ride, came back, had a bath, went out to take my wife to the shops, cooked a few sausages under the grill when we got back, and now the thermostat is showing 14.3°c. If I double my loft insulation (to meet modern recommended levels) I might never need to heat the house again! I'm not wearing shorts and t-shirts around the house, but neither am I wearing anything I'd describe as "extra layers". Tracksuit pants or jeans, and a t-shirt under a sweatshirt or hoody and I'm pretty comfortable, sometimes I need to ditch the hoody to avoid being too warm. Maybe I am a penguin... hehe

Go back 40 years before central heating and that was a pretty typical house temperature - was everyone penguins then??

You acclimatise to temperatures fairly quickly (unless you are Mrs BC - that's a whole different ball game) - go on holiday and what is bloody hot in the first few days quickly become bearable.

I'm quite comfortable now in rooms with temps from 17.0 to 18.5 as long as there are no drafts - it gets to 19.5 and I start to think it's too hot.

Go back to 2021 and I'd have said it was cold at anything below 21

Heating is still on and judging by the weather forecast, it will remain on until at least the end of next week. By mid-April, I'd normally expect to have the hearing off for the next six months.

Ours is off via the timer, we just occasionally hit the boost button. Probably average an hour a day. Most of the TRV's are set to 2 though, so it's really just the living room we're heating.

No panic whenever you get time is fine

In other news

Today is the first evening with heating being on - some good solar gain in the south facing side of the house meant we didn't put it on - felt like spring had properly arrived.....

Just HW for 24 mins so gas usage was just 12.5 kWh for the whole day.

Lying in bed shivering because the timer has switched off the heating. It’s nearly May and it’s 3C outside according to Google.

Will we have to heat in July this year?!

Mine set to 16c and it keeps coming on. It's the end of April FFS.

I'm still wearing my winter stuff when out walking.........around London.

Exactly the same. Two fleeces indoors, sometimes three.

Each to their own, I'd rather spend a few quid and live in comfort than be cold for 6 months of the year.

Heating still on every eve this week which is annoying fir the end of April.
