Wow! I get close to 'mine' but not when outside, only through the open window.

I'd never try to touch them, much as I want to - I don't want them to trust all humans as others may shoot them. Fortunateky the Estate & Farm owner won't allow anything to be shot that is on his land unless it is too sick to be cured.

me and the girlfriend had 4 adults and 2/3 cubs outside the other night just staring up as in the balcony from 3 floors down, rolling about and wrestling amongst themselves.

must admit we decide to feed them after 5 minutes then buggered off inside again to try get them to leave!

My neighbours, one has sadly popped off now, used to lob raw chicken wings from their upper flat window to the foxes every evening.

Each night there would be a row of up to 5 foxes sitting waiting outside in an orderly line for the wings to hit the deck.

When I first moved in I was worried that they might attack my moggy but they paid him no attention.

The sole surviving granny now cooks Tesco value sausages for the foxes.

One cheeky sod, which is so mangy that his tail is just a white 'stick', reaches up and knocks on her window each evening to ask for his nosh.

Urban foxes seem to me to be increasing steadily and well adapted to this life. I wish I was.
That surprises me - I would've thought that with people's rubbish being put in wheelie bins instead of bin bags they would find food harder to find?

Surprises me too. But by my own observation and the comments in this topic, I do think they are well adapted to their urban life. Marvelous thing nature. The wily old fox was always a character in literature, because foxes are very cunning creatures. Somehow they have adapted to urban life. Wily old fox.

Don't know if it still happens, but few years ago ,I did a bit of part time taxi driving. On one rank ,after all had shut down, we used to spot a pair of foxes feeding from the bins near the rank . Suspect Basil was taking his mate out for a hamburger meal at the local take away ( AKA bin) . And this was in the town centre . Bold as brass. I'm told that in a local park ,at night , there's a group of foxes gathering .Certainly my old Cairn goes daft in spots on this park during the day .

When I finish work at a hotel on Eastbourne seafront about 1am usually see a fox when I'm loading up the van. It usually stops and looks at me for a minute or so then just walks right past me to where it wants to go. Sometimes it gets within 10ft and doesn't appear scared at all. I actually saw it last night and was going to take a picture but by the time I got my phone out it was gone.

I think these are typical of modern Urban foxes, they avoid contact, and prefer not to be approached, but they clearly are perfectly suited to urban life.
Could be describing a typical urban human there.

They love peanut butter and marmite sandwiches wink which is good because they help them overcome mange & helps their coats get glossy smile

They are actually very friendly once they have overcrowd their mistrust, although as I worry that they'll start to trust all humans and know that they cannot I tend to keep my distance with these on the Farm - although Mrs Fox would come right up to the window & take food from me, she would hide if she saw me outside.

I live in the centre of Liverpool basically and see foxes pretty much all the time if i'm out on a run at 00:00 -01:00.
Work on the railway and see them commonly on the tracks in certain areas. Must be a great network for them to get into amd out of peoples gardens and estates smile

I haven't seen one around here for a long time, however one got hold of a hen at the farm where we keep our horses last night and made quite a mess.
