AstonZagato said: My Goldie is terrified of going into water. I'm not sure why (though apparently he fell in a pond at home when a pup and needed to be grabbed - all over in a minute).
I have been doing a few things:
Getting him to jump over water (following me). He loves this game. Getting him to join me in water (rainy walks when I'm in wellies). He gets quite stressed (he hides between my legs) but is obviously excited too Getting him to retrieve over small streams (he has to jump across). He is cautious but will finally make the leap.
I can't get him to swim and he won't pick anything out of the water (I've tried putting a tennis ball at the edge of the pond when we are playing - he just looks at me with a look of "that one is down to you"). My lab white alsation cross would not go near water until she was about 2 when we visited the seaside and my stepdaughter went in the sea, honey the dog followed her into the water. From that day on she would be into anything wet , boggy ground.puddles .streams.lakes anything.the muddier or smelly the better.being lab size and white she looked a right mess but always had that stupid grin on her face ! RIP honey long gone always loved .

First time I've been able to face reading this thread after my beautiful Blitz died suddenly last week... Didn't realise until he'd gone, just how much I had depended on his companionship over the last few very difficult years for me - with considerable personal and professional hardship. Everyone hug your dogs, every day - you never know when you won't be able to do that any more. Fortunately, I have two of his younger relatives to keep me company and help me get over his passing - they're completely different to him, but I love them just as much in their own way

Seeing all these terrier pics, I don't think I posted one of Badger previously. Here he is. There's an Xzibit style picture-within-a-picture thing going on here.

I've always given Jackson plenty of love but he's been getting even more hugs since I almost lost him a while back. Like you say you can never be sure how long you've got with them. I bet your others two will be getting a real fuss made of them now

I'm so sorry to hear that you have lost Blitz, from your previous posts about him it is such a huge loss for you
