Hopefully we have some experts on here on MM's, I am at the early stages of looking at buying and eventually preparing a mini Marcos for use in the classic class of sprints/ hillimbs and possibly racing. I've previously used a clan crusader for this many years ago and then eventually sold it but looking at the price of competition parts now for hillman imps I've decided that the MM route might be the way to go as mini spares seem to be a fair bit cheaper.
I'll be competing against various cars up 1400cc but the main competition will be from early minis. Does anyone know if the MM is actually lighter than a 60's/ 70's mini, I've read somewhere that the MM is a lot stiffer and I would imagine that aerodynamically it would be better but I've always found that the weight is key item.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Probably a good way to start is to get the FIA homologation papers for the car (MSA will supply at about £25?) which will give you weights etc.
Rory at Marcos Heritage will probably be able to point you in the right direction and I would imagine it would be very well in something like CSCC Swinging Sixties Group 1 (which is limited to 1400cc ?)
In terms of value I would tend towards an FIA HTP car rather than a later car as the engine/gearbox/seat etc will all cost the same.

Have fun

Hello ...Dont know if you sent off for the rac papers.....I have a copy bought years ago.....not much detail in there to help you....waste of money really. The info was for a cooper s 1275 engine. I will try and find it and let you know. From memory the weight was listed at 580 kg.
