The clarkprosecutor website gives a lot of this sort of information regarding death row. Including last words, last meals, details of crime etc. Some of it is interesting in a strange sort of way.

I don't want to link it whilst I'm at work but for anyone that is interested, google 'US executions since 1976' (I think that should bring the site up).

Great read, but they should not even be allowed to publish such stuff. I am not a believer of waiting on death row for years and years. You are convicted by a jury based on evidence. That evidence was sufficient to convict you and be given the death sentence. The death sentence should be carried out straight away i.e within 24 hours.

Chinese have/had it right: death penalty given - out the back door, driven to a secluded area - bullet to back of head - simple, effective.

I remember seeing a similar page that listed the "last meal" of people on death row - some really odd ones as well as the more lavish items requested.

ETA: Not the link I saw originally but the same theme:

I literally can't see a single failing in that plan. I mean, how many people have been wrongly convicted in the UK in the last 20 odd years, I can only think of, oohhh, 10? 20?

Yes, I want to tell everybody that I love everybody. Keep your heads up. We are all family, people of God Almighty. We're all good. I'm ready.

Are they already doing it? I'm gonna go to sleep. See you later. This stuff stings, man almighty.

There is evidence to suggest that lethal injection is less than humane. Room full of nitrogen definitely the best if you MUST put people down.

Read some of the charges and they do seem to have done some dark st, but I could never condone capitol punishment, it's barbaric and makes them just as bad as the criminals.
No it doesn't at all. How can you actually believe this statement?

I do not agree with the keyboard warrior statements about beating criminal to death or gouging out thier eyes but i see no reason why those that have commited these actions should be allowed to live.
Quick and clean, exactly like when a dog that has turned nasty needs to be put down.
And yes sometimes mistakes can be made, which is tragic, but we should concentrate on fixing the system so no more mistakes can be made, not removing the deterent incase of error.

Will never be fixed. Ever. There will ALWAYS be mistakes and the innocent will be executed. It is barbaric beyond words, serves no deterrent purpose and satisfies little more than 'society's' bloody lust for 'justice'. So glad we do not have it here.

This one is interesting:

Keith Thurmond said:
All I want to say is I'm innocent, I didn't kill my wife. Jack Leary shot my wife then her dope dealer Guy Fernandez. Don't hold it against me, Bill. I swear to God I didn't kill her. Go ahead and finish it off. You can taste it.
Background on that case;

http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/courier/news/thurmo...

article said:
The child later described to officers how he watched his father, with the gun, chase his mother around the yard while Fernandes ran into his home. The boy told investigators he saw his father shoot his mother “a couple of times and ... then ran into Guy’s mobile home with the gun,” according to affidavits.

The boy then said he heard several shots, and he then ran to his house across the street.

As officers with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were on their way to respond to a domestic disturbance call, Thurmond returned to his home and barricaded himself inside with his son. He released the boy a short time later and peacefully surrendered to police after holding them at bay for nearly two hours

It's not a deterrent, no but you deride society's need for "blood justice" as though it was factually wrong when it's no more than an opinion.
