Just stumbled across this.

Fascinating, in a slightly mawkish manner. It's interesting to see how they talk about their crimes too... And interesting how much more "open book" the US justice system seems to be.

I simply can't agree with the death penalty, much as my Attila The Hun side says I should.

This one is interesting:

where did you 'stumble' across that little lot, mawkish indeed but fascinating nonetheless.

Interesting reading.

There seem to be a lot that are convinced it is wrong to have them put to death, but they forgive those doing it. Shame the didn't think about that before taking the lives of others, and I don't buy that they were all innocent. Also very telling that most of them make little of no reference to the families they have convicted to a life time of suffering.

Oh I don't know, does the world need people like this: http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/stat/dr_info/esparzagu...

I do quite often browse that site. It's quite sad seeing all the people on death row who are very young.

Just read a dozen of those.

I'm not normally a squeamish person but reading those just felt wrong!

Fair comment. And I found this via an equally random post on M3cutters!

'There will be also a funeral mass at St. Thomas and I would like to invite all of those from the State and the family to be there if they would like to come'

Inviting people to your own imminent funeral, not many people get to do that!

Quite thought provoking.

It's also interesting Googling some of the convict's names and seeing news articles about their crimes. Lead me to discover Murderpedia - the Encyclopedia of Murderers.

Seen this before somewhere a few years ago. Chilling . Reading some, the offences were comitted in the early 90's seems bizarre to keep someone on death row all that time. I don't see the logic . Either lock them up for a long time or execute them , no reason for both.

For those that commit crimes against children, they should be burned at the stake.

Some of the others appear to have learned from their mistakes or express genuine regret (hard to tell from something written down and no other history). I'm on the fence about the death sentence for those not involving children.

None seem to have defiance in the statements, maybe spending the time on death row really does get them to come to terms with it.

One says something like 'God, this stings'.

And yes, TX uses Lethal Injection. I'm not on the fence when it comes to capital punishment - in fact I've done pro bono work for Amnesty on Death Row cases. Capital punishment achieves nothing whatsoever and is truly gruesome. And in Texas particularly, race plays a huge part.

I was also shocked at how many claimed they could taste / feel the poisons starting to work, I've had a couple of weeks of IV Antibiotics and it's weird when you start to taste them.

I guess they don't wait until they've finished before they start killing them, I guess it's best to have a statement ready and get it out quickly then.

Read some of the charges and they do seem to have done some dark st, but I could never condone capitol punishment, it's barbaric and makes them just as bad as the criminals.
