A lot of the farmers around us are starting to use this for their weather forecasting. A mate who's an ex-farmer recommended it to me and I've been trying it for the last week and it's been spot on almost every day compared to the dreadful accuracy of the BBC and Met forecasts.

Anyone else tried it and if you have has it been accurate for your area? If you haven't give it a try and report back. An accurate forecast for the UK's changeable weather would be very useful.

I'm going to shamelessly name drop now, although it's not that exciting, but John Kettley recommended that site to me last year when we were chatting over a beer following a job we'd both worked on.

It's pretty good, and goes into quite a bit of detail regarding wind speeds etc. It's ran from Norway so I understand.

Their long term forecast (9 days) makes for quite depressing reading!

bow

Great site - never heard of it, will probably replace Met/BBC if it proves accurate

I work a fair bit in the far north of Sweden - its the best site for weather forecasting by a long way for Lapland. The UK does have a lot more unstable weather but I find it still very good. smile

This looks good - thanks.

I work in offshore opersations (drilling and marine construction) so accurate forecasting can be critical.

The best success I've had in recent years was from NowCasting (pretty pants website - sorry).

NowCating was actually specifically developed for European ferry companies to establish that the forecast window was adequate for their crossing duration.

As I recal, their base data was from the Danish meteorogical agency.

I think it's the case that, in the UK, commercial forecasting services all use the same raw data (Met Office) and so the only difference is from their individual interpretation and predictions.

I may be wrong though and I'm happy to be corrected.

Thanks again for posting this - it's in my favourites.

Cheers,

Eric smile

It used to be, now it's more likely to be: "I say old bean, does one know where one can source some off-road tyres for a 22" rim for the Rangy?"

I bet they still complain a lot though.

I've been watching the weather since this thread was started, and it's almost spot on. A thousand times better than the BBC.

Cheers!

Me twice.

Racing was on over the weekend and I showed a few owners and trainers that website and it's been very accurate hourly.

Top tip.

The most consistant site I have ever found is passageweather.com, it is absoulutely spot on for wind and waves, plus if you go over to the visibility & precipitation tab you can see exactly what is coming from where and at what time. This site could not be clearer in forecasting and an absolute must for anyone at sea but translates very well for land use.

OP, been meaning to thank you for the heads up on this as I'm massively interested in the weather for Friday this week. It also allows me to learn some Norwegian at the same time - or at least it did until I saw you can change language!

I've used www.netweather.tv for the last three years and it has never let me down - excellent service all round. Biggest plus for me is that I can type in my postcode and it tells me what's going on here, right here - we're the only folk with this postcode in the UK smile
