I used to bite my nails at a prolific rate. Then got my lip pierced so chewed that instead. After about 6 months I took the piercing out (got fed up of taking it in and out for karate) seem to have broken the habit for good now. Restarted my nicotine addiction part time instead

Biter here too, I keep trying to stop as well, but then I forget I'm trying to stop and start again.

All the time, and being a girl, not that nice.
However, I don't like the "feeling" of long nails, I had those acrylic ones on and my nails grew underneath, as soon as they were taken off and I could "feel" my nails...ugh. Bit them straight off.
Why I started I don't know, Mum says I was biting nails from being a very small toddler, no one else in the family had the same habit. She used to paint foul tasting stuff on them and I would lick it off.
Don't think I will ever stop.

Bitten nails look awful. Really awful. I used to bite mine until I have 'train track' baces and then I physically couldn't do it because of the pain. On a man bitten down nails look disgusting, on a woman they look even worse. Just carry a tiny leatherman (or similar alternative) then if you get a nail bugging you, snip it, file it, job done

I used to but found it would take a fair while and annoying taking skin off and leaving painful areas etc, now just use the scissor section on a small Swiss army knife every 2 weeks or so and dump the nails on an empty plate or used drinks can etc, much easier, quicker and hygienic.

I'm also a biter.
I know its disgusting but my hands are in my face before I've even realised it it's been going on so long.
I picked up a worse habit too. I would start clipping my nails, then the skin around the nails and eventually most of the inside of my finger. It's been going on for so long that I have pad like qualities to my fingers and could clip an alarming amount of skin off my hands.
Gross I know, I can't even explain why I do it.

You have reminded me that i used to be much worse than i am now! I still occasionally draw blood by pulling off too much nail, but i have not pulled chunks off the finger print area for years! maybe i am no my way to recovery... I used to do similar things to my feet..rubbing between my toes until i was pulling chunks of skin off. I cured that problem by using anti-fungal spray for a week. I wish it was that easy to stop nail biting.
