My 50th was somewhat scuppered by a Covid lockdown, so there was no gathering, party or gifts.

Instead I decided to do a 50 mile sponsored bike ride (more than double anything i had previously managed) and raised just over £500 for the local hospice. The weather was bad, and I was knackered, but it was memorable!

I could have sworn I posted this at 7am.

Anyway second. Did it a couple of years back and one of the best things I have done.

Whilst expensive, i’d say very good value for money.

I had mine a couple of years ago. I got my Alfa resprayed…

My wife is 50 tomorrow and we are very much going with the memories approach. We have a day out tomorrow and a party at a local hotel on Saturday which is very much along the lines of. Wedding reception, sit down meal, disco, magician going around the tables etc.

Hopefully she will remember it.

I was on track at Mugello for my 50th. (9 years ago) All my long time friends were there so we ended up like this every evening.

I was pleased to be here for my 50th, I was officially older than my dad who died when he was 49!

I had a wine tasting evening with friends, it was wonderful.

The last thing I need in my life is more trinkets that I have to feel bad about looking after.

Ask for food and drink and consume them both, surrounded by good company, there's nothing else you need when you're 50, ask my dad!

When my 50th was coming up I realised that I would be able to utilise the services of Saga, as well as the drop in afternoon teas for the elderly organised at the church hall. This was serious stuff, I thought.

So I sold the useless Nationwide shares I had been awarded, took out an interest only loan, and bought the Caterham kit that I had always wanted.

As an extra, I had a trip on a hot air balloon. You can easily all end up in a heap on your side on landing, so best to do that before you get too old.

Im not 50 for another 3 years, however the plans are already sort of in place that it will be a family weekend away and a meal on the Saturday evening, with a few shandys to finish off.

ill maybe treat myself to a private number plate but its not on the top of my list.

I was looking at that last night. Bit more expensive than my proposed Tiger Moth trip. £2995 IIRC

It was my 50th back in January and my wife’s a couple of weeks earlier. Neither of us could be arsed doing anything notable, despite a big 40th do we had. Indeed, I was actually not looking forward to it as I felt there was an expectation that I should have grown up by now.

My dad gave me an Omega Seamaster that he’d got for his 21st and had refurbished, but it’s too precious for daily use so I treated myself to a Swatch Omega.

We had a big family meal on the day at a local Italian and the two of us will have a weekend away later in the year, plus there’s various parties and weekends away for friends who are also turning 50 (one is in Marbella so need to get liver and wallet in training).

So in summary lots of nice little things rather than one blowout.

I’ve got about 5 years to go.

The goal is a Cayman, I’ve never owned a Porsche or anything like that, it won’t be new, not even close but it’s something I’ve always wanted.

I also want to go back to Whistler Bike Park, that should be easier!

It's just a triumph herald, with less seats. They were st in the 60s and st in the 70s. You may as well st in a bucket and turn it on your head.

(Says the bloke whose first car was a magenta mk4. Which was st)

I'm 50 in September. I could't think what I'd want but that would definitely do! hehe
Haha, that’s a great idea!

Mind you, if they turned up saying ‘we’re very talented… we’ll do anything… anything you ask…’ my first thought these days would be to put ‘em to work sanding down and painting the skirting boards.

My youngest will leave home for uni a few weeks before my 50th, which I'm sure will make me feel old.

My current plan to replace him is to buy myself a Triumph Bobber.
