Whilst searching for this thread, I did find the bollix on the Jimmy Savile thread that makes me wonder where I went wrong, as I am neither powerful, important or in the legal profession, but the link to the Inibriati sounds like something I would join.

Whenever I have to do any toasts or speeches a line that I sue always goes down well:

"May the roof of the lodge never fall in, and the brethren below never fall out"

Finish with that, and pretty much whatever has been said before will be thought of as a good speech... ;-)

Can't really see a problem with it, it also includes trades unions and other groups.

unfortunately some immature and / or bullying types will use their membership of any organisation whether , Masonic, Union, Golf club or what ever as a tool for leverage among others , the 'problem' with the Masons is the way in which some of their rules are phrased which on first reading ( and when the bullies are pressuring people ) mean that they should cover up for each other. It only takes a couple of the bullies to be in a position of power at either the lodge or in an external organisation for a culture of Masons 'looking after each other' to the point of being detrimental to others and /or the service to take hold.
