I love pizza. I hate HIIT.

That's my main problem. thumbup

I'll be taking my pictures and doing the fitness test tonight though and I'm really determined to get through the whole 90-day programme.
How did you get on with the test?
paperbag

I hadn't read the documentation properly when I made this post and didn't have all the equipment I needed. I have now, and am just on my four minute rest after push-ups. Knackered!

Anyone else using this P90xcel spreadsheet?

Yes I found that spreadsheet too, pretty useful. Was going to start this week but work has been a nightmare and friends staying this weekend. Going to start next week properly, quite looking forward to it!

I started P90X 3 weeks ago after 20 years of neglect. A Desk job, kids, no time, booze, smoking, love of fine foods....usual excusses for not looking after myself.

Built up to it with 2 weeks of gentle running/uphill walking on the treadmill at home. The fitness test was HARD work. Never realised how unfit/weak I had become. Age 37. 100Kg. 1m 85cm. Tall and not powerfully built smile chubby around the middle.

I could just about manage a couple of press ups and no pull ups at all.

3 weeks in and I can see a huge change in shape occurring. Belly rapidly shrinking, shoulders and arms becoming slightly bigger and more defined. After 3 weeks!

I have modified slightly, not doing too much of the yoga, i use that day for an hour run on the treadmill. yoga bores the hell out of me and I am not yet strong enough to do many of the plank-dog-plank (repeat ad nauseum) moves. Maybe in month 2 I'll focus more on that but for now I'm more interested in cardio fitness.

I have been using resistance bands but now feel that I need to step up to some dumbells. Good to see the feedback here regarding changing weights, might invest in a set with the stand that you just set the dial and it picks up the set amount of weight on the bar.

I enjoy the arms/shoulders workout as well as the Kenpo/Plyometrics, the legs workout kills me.

Diet-wise there has not been much need to change, my evening meals were close to the menus anyway. There has been a marked change in Breakfast and lunch though. I miss crisps/pop and foie gras frown

Highly reccommended as a step-change in looking after your body though. Very quick to see results, lots of variety and fun workouts are good for keeping the motivation going.

Legs and Ab ripper tonight. I hate it.....but I love it.

How's everyone getting on?

After a poor effort from me for a couple of weeks (family visits, trips away etc.) I am back on it this week. Rather than just skip weeks, I'm redoing week 3 again. If anything, the break has helped my nagging knee injury recover and PlyoX was no issue a few days ago.

I'm noticing the belly going down now but annoyed that I didn't take proper measurements at the start. I did weight myself and it was shocking. I could tell I had put some weight on as clothes were tighter, but tbh, the weight I had got to was just embarrassing, I can't even bring myself to fess up to it on here!
I've not been back to the scales since. I think it will hit my motivation badly if I haven't shifted much weight (even though I know muscle weighs more etc.)

Motivation is high though and I din't intend it to slip again.

Mine's on pause, I've had to start taking Warfarin so I'm reducing my impact exercises for a couple of months and they suggest I don't do any crazy diets - just try to be consistent with my food, P90x doesn't really fit within either of those, so I'm just going to have to try not to put much weight on and stick to things like cycling and swimming in the mean time.

I'll be back! I promise.

What do the workouts consist of? I currently do running training 3 times a week, would I still be able to fit this in?

About an hour each night, sometimes an hour and a half.

I've kinda jumped in at the deep end, never really seriously did any weight training before just the odd few months in the gym here and there but somehow I've made it to week 5.

Overall, it's been an enjoyable experience on the whole so far but those first 2 weeks were tough. Workouts are getting easier now but I'm still struggling to keep up on some exercises, 15 reps on chin up bars... no chance I can just about do 4.
Don't know how you guys are staying motivated to go through yoga it's boring me, I guess with the pace and intensity of the other workouts it just feels like your not doing anything and its kind of tempting to replace it with something else.

My main aim was weightloss, loose the love handles and trim down the gut so from that perspective I don't think p90x was intended to be a weightloss program as such. What I mean is that there are probably more efficient ways to just loose weight but p90x should help to loose weight whilst hopefully minimizing lean muscle loss.

So far it works, I've noticed changes shoulders feel a bit bigger, stomach has trimmed a bit but supposedly the major changes occur in phase 2 and 3. Diet is key and I'm kind of struggling to hit the ratios, being a veggie my protein intake tends to come with a bit more carbs. I'm averaging about 1300 cals net, the diet plan in p90x assumes you burn roughly 500-600 cals per workout.

I didn't use any supplements for the first month but have started taking creatine, glutamine and bcaa's. The bcaa's definitely help with the recovery, you feel less sore the next morning.

Also don't know if any of you guys have a jailbroken iphone, but there is a p90x app that is very useful and makes it easy to log your reps and weights for each exercise. For some reason it't not available on the Uk app store but is on the USA one.

If your thinking of trying p90x and you can commit to one hour a day then IMO the hardest challenge is having the will power to hit play day after day, well that and trying to eat clean as possible for 3 months.

Just finished week 4.

Not a fan of Core Synergistics or Yoga, do cardio (treadmill) on these days.

Results are excellent. Added 1 inch to biceps and about 20% to lust for life smile

Day 3 today and I'm dead on my feet! My legs and arse cheeks are killing from last night's Plyometrics, my chest is still hurting from Tuesday's chest & back. Don't even mention my abs.

Loving it so far.

Finally about to start this. Did the fitness test today, all okay apart from not being able to do a single proper form (starting with arms straight) pull up laugh Think I'm going to have to use the chair method for a while! Day 1 back and chest tomorrow....

Well first day done. Workout this morning was pretty tough and took much longer than expected as I had to keep pausing the DVD to do my reps then restart it again as I don't have the speed Tony has on the DVD. Guess I'll get used to it a bit more as the week goes on and hopefully increase the intensity. Food wise it's been interesting! I'm tracking everything in Myfitnesspal and have fallen about 300 short on the calories, spot on with carbs and slightly down on protein. Think I'm going to need to increase the portion sizes somewhat to hit the 2400 calories I'm meant to be taking in for Level II. Found it quite hard to eat that many calories yet still stick with healthy low carb high protein foods. Still early days yet and Plyometrics tomorrow morning followed by Karate in the evening if I can walk!

Did my first session wearing a heart rate monitor last night. It was the start of week 5 (chest, shoulders, triceps, abs) and was bloody hard work after a week away for a wedding enjoying beer, wine, curry, pastry, ice cream lick partly offset with a lot of bike riding.

In one hour 16 mins I burnt 512 calories. I was quite chuffed with this and should be able to increase my weights next week now I've tried the exercises and noted where I could have lifted more.

Hi all, have been watching this thread with interest. Sounds like this could be the programme for me. A couple of questions (sorry if some are a bit dumb!). Had read a few comments that the multi region discs won't play on a PS3 - is this the case? I don't have anywhere to fit a bar so would need to use the resistance bands - are these effective? Doubt I could do 6 days a week due to other commitments so can this be done say 4/5 days a week? I guess if so 90 days might become 120 days? How much space do you need to complete the workouts - is a standard living room adaquate? Finally, what happens after you complete the programme successfully, is there a maintance plan to follow so that you don't lose all the gains you make? Cheers in advance.

I'm thinking of going through the routine again, but want to get a different set of weights, as unscrewing my set and adding/subtracting weights every 2 minutes added loads of time to the workout, has anyone got a set of the adjustable weights like these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

And if so, what are they like? Don't want to buy them and find the mechanism breaks after a few weeks.

Don't know those but the price (and appearance) make me suspicious that they might be a bit 'cheap' and maybe not so well made. I had - and regret selling - a set of Bowflex 'bells like this

http://www.bowflex-dumbbells.co.uk/Bowflex-1090-Du...

An excellent product and perfectly reliable - unless dropped which the pins don't like.
