Managed another session today; still no word from the specialist... Hoping I get a letter/text through in the next day or so. I'm down 5kg now in just over a week (mainly through lack of eating); but it's not good either way!

Managed 5 x 5 bodweight pull ups, wide grip/thumbless (tore my right hand callus even more) rolleyes Time to snip it off I'd say!

Then a tri-set of 30kg narrow grip tricep pushdowns, with 20kg EZ bar curls with the Fat Gripz Extreme and 25kg dumbbell (each hand) SLDLs with the normal Fat Gripz

Finished with bodyweight hangs again, x4 for 45 seconds

Think I'm going to try back & chest tomorrow, see how I get on for being pained etc

Nice clap

My pal is into CrossFit and that's callus central. He's got one of them little scrapers for shaving them off, makes me sick thinking about it.

Thankfully never get bad ones myself, or blisters on my feet.

Yesterday, impromptu gym session seeing as I was close by, chest supported rows 3 and a half plates, lat pull downs full stack, then weighted pull ups with a 20kg plate, felt a bit sick after that, then a race on Zwift, 4th or 5th out of 350 I think, then a quick swim before the bay turned into something you have nightmares about.

Today the same minus the gym.

It's been a career habit of mine tearing calusses...

This time it's because they've got a bit soft through lack of lifting heavy etc... But it's my thumb that I've torn weirdly as I've been doing most stuff thumbless.

I split it a week or so back digging tha raised beds over and it's just not healed...

It's off now thanks to my razor sharp Opinal knife biggrin

Worst I've ever had was deads for reps, 255kg on a brand new Texas power bar. No bend at all, massively stiff and it ripped both my hands on about the 4th or 5th rep... It took weeks to heal and hurt like hell

Mind if I ask where in the world you are?

I have easy access to both sea and lakes and really don't make the most of it.

Sure, I live in Guernsey, so I can walk across to the beach from my house, I’m very lucky

Absolute grind today, gonna drop weight till I'm getting tens for everything
Squat 140kg x 8
Deadlifts 160kg x 8
Standing barbell 'bent' Shrugs 100kg x 10, 2 sets
Clean and press 60kg x 6, 4

50kg dumbells shrug x 20
50kg single arm rows x 20
40kg clasp grip dumbell front raises x 10

Medicine ball wall slams x 15 per side

Nothing for me today mad

In pain (can't get away from it), feeling nauseous constantly and hardly eaten again...

Tried to do some pull ups at least and had to stop at 4; a no-go today rolleyes

Fires lit, sat on the sofa waiting for the painkillers to try and numb the pain a bit...

So do I; starting to lose my patience now...

Referred as urgent a week ago today; you're supposed to hear within a week for an appointment within 2 weeks... Docs have confirmed the referral etc..

This is why I ended up going private with my 2 other ops as the GP/NHS were just a shower of st mad

Sorry you've had that experience. I've only had positive experiences with the NHS but sadly, consistency across different areas does seem to vary hugely.

When I was in hospital for a weeks holiday via A&E last May; they were superb. Really looked after me (probably because I was quiet, kept myself to myself and when a few knobbers on the ward started to play havoc (ie taking the piss out of the doctors & nurses); I went and had a very quiet, but blunt conversation with them (I wasn't in the best of moods; very angry/pained and quite yellow with jaundice) laugh

They soon discharged themselves out of the 'hotel' they thought they were in!

The poor old boys on the ward were very grateful... As were the small Indian nurses that couldn't reach the IV bag hangers; that was my job overnight hehe

But our GPs are just utter ste; they don't give a toss about anyone and you're made to feel like you're wasting their time. The reception staff are even worse and I've made them very aware of this with constructive feedback. They simply don't care!

It's not their fault they're in the st; every government (no matter what colour they were) have not done well by the NHS and you can feel their pain; but unfortunately this is reflected on the patients and family and it's horrible.

The private care/treatment/ops I've had are absolutely the other end of the spectrum; but that's what you get when you fork out close to £10k to pay for the care!

My GP is fantastic...and my Mrs is a doctors receptionist so I see that one from both sides...she regularly gets left positive feedback from patients who hand in gifts for 'the girls' weekly. You should hear the abuse they take daily, although by her own admission, some of her colleagues are no angels at times.

Today, brutal back workout with the fam, love it that we share workouts together, any way felt great, weighted pull ups and bent over rows fried my back good and proper, then a reluctant swim in a dreary cold bay, felt better for doing it. On a side note I’m on a 3 day streak for 20000 steps or more, I generally average around 17000 a day and have seen really tangible benefits.

Horrible extra 'cardio' session just now.

140kg deadlifts supersetted with medicine ball slams

3 sets of 10,10,10

Battle ropes first time
3 sets single arm 25 per side.
2 sets double arm slams 12 reps ...these are horrible, so worth persevering with I feel. I'll try 30sec unilateral, then bilateral then jumping slams as an addition. Really felt traps and upper back burning.

Medicine ball squat floor slams x 12

Yesterday was just the commute on the bike.

Same again today, then I was planning to do 20-30 minutes with the dumbbells at home but partner couldn't drag her carcass out of bed this morning so wanted to go to the gym this evening. I tagged along as it was a nice opportunity to go 'off-programme' and test out the new grips.

Started with seated cable rows, upping the weight until failure. Managed to get up to 82.5kg for 6. Normally do 4 x 12 at the same weight at the end of a back/deadlift day, so the grips were working.

Then some sets of EZ bar curls for reps until failure, mixed in with some dead hangs with the grips. Again, can normally easily do a minute hanging but first one was 30 secs and that quickly went down.

Dumbbell rows and hammer curls. Feel like I'm holding a very heavy can of Stella at this point.

Few sets of rack pulls with a three second pause at the top. Thought I'd do 110kg, could barely manage 70kg. Some chin ups in between, 5 per set.

Expect sore forearms tomorrow and currently have claws instead of hands.
