I’ve been off work for 2 weeks. Started with a cough, 12 hours later I’m in bed with what can only be described as proper flu. I was in bed for a week, in the end called the doctors and to get out of bed as it was sitting on my chest.
Felt rough for another week, (today was the first day feeling ok, just low energy and breathless.

I don’t think I’ve ever been this ill.

Christmas tree not up and I love Christmas! Just haven’t fot the energy or wellbeing to put it up.
Had something similar a month ago; not sure what it was exactly but it kicked my ass for 2.5 weeks and I lost almost all hearing for the best part of 4 weeks - it’s only just returned to normal this past week. Scared the st out of me and I really thought I had done something serious to my ears. Misery compounded by the fact I’m in the Netherlands and you can’t buy any decently strong flu medicines in the supermarkets, paracetamol and ibuprofen only.

Just seen reports like this over the last day or so…

Though the numbers are low, this is concerning, whooping cough was nearly the death of me when I was little and I'm still prone to chest infections, 70 years later - the UK in winter is a very bug-ridden place!

Day 6 of this now, thought I was getting better on Wednesday but yesterday got considerably worse. Ear ache has gone but it now feels blocked, which is annoying.

Had 3 days off work as sitting at desk was agony with aches and pains, but I’m back working from home now. Mind feels sluggish so not the most productive. Hoping another weekend at home in the warmth will help recovery, although it’s my partners dads 60th on Sunday and we’ve got plans for that.

I rarely get ill, and if I do it just tends to be a cold and sniffles.. but my wife felt rough last Friday, and I started feeling unwell on Tuesday…and it is knocking the stuffing out of me. frown

I feel detached, as if I am not really here, my head pounded Wednesday, migraine level stuff.. Since then I have been freezing or sweating. Last night I soaked the bedding and had to use a towel to dry myself and the duvet cover as much as possible, flipping it over etc.. It was just repeat after that. Every 45 mins, drop off to sleep - wake in a sweaty shaking mess. Miserable.

I currently feel shaky and nauseous, my appetite has completely disappeared, and I am just shoving paracetamol down my throat every 4 hours.

I recently turned 52, but haven’t had the flu jab.. not sure if there’s any point now? This virus can do one.. horrendous. frown

I'm sitting in Terminal 5 about to go to Tenerife for 5 weeks.

My good friend is supposed come out tomorrow but something has hit her and she's too sick to consider travel.

Must be bad as she normally shrugs off stuff that'll have me crying to my mum.

So now that's me on my lonesome until another mate comes out in three weeks time.

My wife had a cold and I think I’m on my third in the last couple of months and they’ve all caused us neck/back aches.

Nursery and primary school, and lockdowns, has bred some rough lurgies.

My OH has been suffering with this for a couple of weeks now. She just feels really rough with a dull headache, fever, breathless when climbing the stairs, diarrhoea and nausea. And a hacking cough which, when it gets hold of her in the night means no sleep for either of us. She did test positive for COVID last week too!

She is taking flu relief but they aren't shifting it. Is it just a case of letting it pass?

Now my eighth week of feeling ste with heavy cold symptoms. Had tried to get a hold of my doctor at the end of last week, but I could never get an appointment. Used the DigitalGP through my works healthcare last night and have a course of antibiotics to start today.

At this point I don't feel any more ill than what I have, but the strain on my mind of being perpetually ill for this long has really taken its toll.

I'm into my 7th week. Managed to get an GP appointment for Thursday due to it being on my chest, and causing a bit of pain.

I'm ill at the moment and wonder if it's covid. I've also got the insatiable hunger. Walked to the shop earlier to get more food as I was running out from eating so much. Not got the endless sleep though.

Haven't got a covid test and CBA to buy one as it changes nothing.

I had tonsilitus last week after RTI and then the sinus infections and blocked ears.

I had to go and sort this at the doctors so got prescribed penicillin and it cleared up in a few days.

It's the first time ive seen ulcers on my tonsils, they were ridiculously swollen.

I still feel blocked on the ear, this im going to keep leaving until the NY, I'm fortunate enough to not need to listen or at least know when to look like I'm listening as im not in the office anymore so it's not urgent.

I've hardly coughed at all - unless it was sneezing. Left mid/lower rib pain. Like someone heavy rolled over me in Judo.
