How do I motivate myself? If others are doing it around you then you're more likely to succeed as you wont want to lose face. Plan your meals carefully, and when you go to snack on something - have something to drink instead (and by that I do mean water or sugar free squash, not beer) Says me, with an easter egg fetish ---Edited because I had insulted the wrong person - sorry

That was ten years ago ...
(mind you, I did substitute Dunhills for Walnut Whips on a 1:1 ratio) Sounds familiar, put 3 stone on in 7 years, swapped the fags for twirls though. I'm in

It's probably worth having a physio check it out. Indeed. The leg press is your friend. Squats are excellent to but you need to be careful if you have knee issues. Make sure you stretch and cool down too at the end of a session. Hip problems are also connected to tight IT bands. This can have knock-on effect on calf muscles - tightness and cramping. Regular stretching and deep tissue massage can keep this in check. A physio will provide a proper diagnosis though.

Are you perhaps doing too much too soon? Regular massage (deep tissue/sports) is very beneficial if you are putting in the miles. Make sure you have proper running shoes too which have sufficient shock-absorption. You can get assessed at Up and Running in Nottingham and fit you with the most suitable shoe for your running style. sorry, but I've only just started, literally one session and I doubt I even did half a mile I think it stems from all the extra weight I have been carrying after two pregnancies. I'm hoping once the extra weight comes off then the hip will ease

Best give the hip a rest and take it steady as you are doing. Did you warm up first?

My hip has been aching before I even did the run, for instance walking upstairs and going on our Cross Trainer, doesn't help carrying extra weight and then another two stone plus on top with the boys It's not paining me enough to do something serious about it yet... perhaps I should?

Yes you should MrsF. It might be also connected to posture. (You can tell I've had plenty of sports injuries and pains can't you? )

Daz is right. Running will only exacerbate the problem and lead to further injury and a prolonged recovery period.

Oi! Seeing as you lot have nicked my name for this thinspirational thing of yours, I get to be chief resident quack.
This would necessitate examination of all the ladies with all of my tools. Stirrups, the plunger, the jabberjiggler and the nipplometer are all cleaned nightly, I guarantee it. Spit, lick and polish.
Fir the men, a simple confirmation of name is adequate. As you were, chaps.

On the tracking of our weight loss....I'll have a word at work and see if one of the boys can knock us up a nice Flex application that we can all use.
Basically be a website that would allow us to input our data on a daily/weekly basis and then graph it for us and maybe show a top 10 or top 20 each week.
So, did we decide what measurements we want to track?
I'll start off and suggest:
Date, Weight, waist size, number of exercise sessions taken
what else would you want to track?
