I moved in my house about six months ago and I could read the company name on the alarm of the house across the road, now it's just a big blurr.

Now I admit I have not done a hell of a lot other than sit in front of a PC for the last few month so I'm wondering if the deterioration would be caused by that, or is it perfectly normal to lose that much sight in six months?

Am I just getting an old git?

There is a perfectly sensible reason for this:

Your windows need cleaning! wink

36 and I've just had a look. The window is clean and the alarm box is clean too.

So you're suffering from presbyopia a wee bit early. I wouldn't worry about it, it'll only get worse.

Are you tired?

It's probably just your eye muscles failing to work to their fullest effect due to fatigue. There's a couple of opthalmic surgeons on here I believe who will be able to give you a proper answer.

If it's not that, it's probably eye cancer. Do you have a sudden desire to live your life in a media glare and marry a violent chav?

This happened to me (mid-20s). My eyesight was perfect until I started my job 4 years ago which basically involves sitting, looking at a laptop all day.

When I went to the opticians they told me it was likely caused by my eyes constantly focusing on small, close items and not distances. Over time, this has become irreversible and any words in the distance are blurry (I need glasses for driving).

So word of warning - if you work on a computer all day, take a break every hour just to focus on something in the distance out the window.

What if it's another - someone else's - computer? Is that OK?
