Well done Reading, I think Blackpool will win the playoffs again, wonder what price I would get on that. Got 5/1 last time and put the winnings on us (man utd) to win the league (we did)biggrin would love to see more Holloway interviews in the prembiggrin

Would love to see us back in the Prem again, but if I could pick any two teams that I wouldn't want us to face in the play-offs, it would be Brum and West Ham!

No Leicester fans on here, but they spent a few quid and won´t get anything out of the season. I´m very happy that the Saints are 2 points away from going up. It´s a bit nervy, but thats the nature of the championship.
Congrats to Reading and purely from a number of points viewpoint, the Hammers should be favourites to go up in the playoffs if they do not sneak the final automatic place. The Hammers squad is mighty impressive, so not going up is surely not an option for the manager?

Well done Reading - you were extremely gracious in defeat to us at last year's playoff final and I liked the way you try and play.

The interesting thing about the play-offs is that there is no team on a good run. There is often a team that puts a late run together and just sneaks in and then have the momentum. You could say that it was Reading, but they started their run to soon and just kept going!

I made a mistake in my last post and should have included Hull as still having a chance of the play-offs.

Form over the last 8 games

1 : Reading W-8, D-0, L-1 - already promoted
2 : Millwall W-5, D-1, L-2 - Blackpool final game (Away), although they are safe
3 : Southampton W-5, D-1, L-2 - probably get 2nd Auto spot
4 : Blackpool W-4, D-3, L-1
5 : Cardiff W-3, D-5, L-0
6 : West Ham W-3, D-4, L-1
7 : Birmingham W-3, D-4, L-1
..
17 : Middlesbrough W-1, D-5, L-2
..
19 : Hull W-2, D-1, L-5 - Need to win last 2 games and hope Us and Cardiff lose both our games and overcome a large GD, plus Middlebrough don't get more than 4pts.

Assuming Blackpool make the play-offs, I don't want to be facing West Ham as they have beat us twice this season, although they will be under immense pressure.

In a way the best result for the teams in the play-offs would be for Saints to blow it and fall into the play-off places. Would be interesting to see how they would recover after spending all season in an automatic spot, plus we have taken 4pts of them this season.

So that's the regular season over then.

Bye Bye to Doncaster, Coventry and Portsmouth

Congratulations to Reading and Southampton on their automatic promotion.

West Ham, Birmingham, Blackpool and Cardiff now fight it out in the play-offs.

Fixtures being

Thursday 3rd - Cardiff v West Ham
Friday 4th - Blackpool v Birmingham
Monday 7th - West Ham v Cardiff
Wednesday 9th - Birmingham v Blackpool

Saturday 19th - Final

Glad that we have avoided West Ham, and would have preferred to be at home for the second leg, but hey we are in the play-offs.

Just hope that we can continue are good history in the play-offs with our 7th appearance in them. So far it's 4 promotions, 1 final lose (on penalties), and 1 semi final lose.
Our full record in the play-offs is

Played - 17
Won - 13 (1 on penalties)
Drawn - 1
Lost - 3 (1 on penalties)

Yep Russ, secured the playoff spot, well done to them. I think in terms of putting a run together, Blackpool's second half of the season has been pretty good. Confidence should be fairly high and I dont think we will fear Brum or Hammers too much. If anything, everybody else will fear Blackpool.

Congratulations to the promoted teams.

Hopefully it will be us next year, however that depends on Bates not selling our best players off without replacing them adequately

Congrats to Reading and Southampton! It's a very tough league to get out of but well done to those two, well deserved.

Play offs will be very close. Fingers crossed Cardiff can make it third time lucky and get promoted but it's going to be very tough.

Didn't see the West Ham v Cardiff game so cannot comment on that, apart from don't mention the 95/96 play-offs to Big Sam.

Our game was a good one with us winning 1 nil (10 play-off games won in a row now). I would have liked another goal and we had the chances, although they had their chances, especially when they hit the post in the last minute of the game. One thing for sure is that Birmingham will not be as defensive as they were at our ground, this should hopefully give us more space this time.

Although it was overshadowed really by the death of a fellow Seasider who collapsed on the row behind me during the first half and later died.

My money is still on Blackpool to be promoted. They just seem to have a nack for it.
